Gun Sales "Boom" Across Country

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Call it a corollary of the Law of Unintended Consequences: When Liberals run for the White House, common folks, er, bitter folks run to their gun dealer! Heh.

Gun sales are going boom around the country as gun owners and gun advocates brace for a potential Democrat in the White House for the first time in almost 10 years.

..."We call it the Obama factor. People are very concerned that if a Democrat is elected they will see more restrictions on handguns and assault rifles." Godell said. "I think as a result of that we have seen steady handgun sales, and there's been an increase in the sale of assault rifles like AK-47s, as well."

Gregg County Republican Party Chairman Keith Rothra said Obama's support for gun control has made some Republicans leery.
"Barack Obama seems to think that we'd be safer if people didn't have handguns, and that's false," Rothra said. "I have heard several people say they are going to buy handguns as a just-in-case thing because they don't know what's going to happen."
Rothra said Obama's interpretation of the Second Amendment is faltering and concerning to many of Rothra's political colleagues.
"Obama says that he's in favor of people bearing arms, but its contrary to his voting record," Rothra said. "He's been anti-gun during his entire voting record."

Kinda like when David Roberti was in the California legislature: He'd propose a draconian gun ban and I'd join the NRA!

Still...better safe than sorry! I've purchased a couple of handguns myself, this year...just in case! Oh, and in case you're wondering...they're not bitter! They're sweet ! Heh.

  1. I just bought a Sig Sauer 232 pistol and a purse with a hidden gun pocket. It's not bitter either. It's sweet!!!

  4. I agree with Obama and don't understand why people believe that public ownership of handguns makes people safer. Isn't a rifle or shotgun sufficient if you want to defend yourself and your family inside your house?

I'm not really up on concealed carry law, but I know that in some places this is illegal. Why don't we just make it illegal everywhere, and have cops being the only people with guns in public, and let people own all the rifles and shotguns they need as long as they keep them in their homes?

That's fine...if you never plan to leave your house! Statistics show that in jurisdictions with concealed carry laws, violent crimes and crimes again persons go down.

The uncertainty of who might be carrying concealed drives criminals to target that are safer for them, and in turn, the population in general.

  6. Additionally, with age and infirmity, or in close quarters, a handgun may be the more appropriate choice for self defense.

I don't recommend that everyone own a firearm or a handgun, but it is a choice guaranteed by the Constitution.

As was once aptly said: "Guns cause crime like flies cause garbage."
