A Little Christmas Thanksgiving

It's Christmas Day! And if you're here, looking at blogs, you probably need some cheering up! Something to be thankful for! Consider too, that even people living below what we call the "poverty line" live better in America than medieval kings did.
A king's ransom could not deliver the comforts, the health or the quality of life that we share today. Fresh fruit all year 'round. Air conditioning in the summer, warmth in winter and the ability to travel in hours what used to take days... things we take for granted every day...and complain that we do not have more.

Take stock of your blessings and your gifts this day, and I don't mean the ones wrapped in ribbons and foil. You know the ones I mean!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  1. Amen to that! Many people on welfare live better, dress better, eat better and drive better cars than people who are working. I spent years working in poor neighborhoods and would see this. True, many times there wasn't a whole lot of nutricious food in the fridge but there was plenty of beer, Johnny Walker Red and cigarettes to go around and a nice Buick in the driveway. It's all a matter of priorities.

  2. I know it's just anecdotal, but I can remember when I was youunger and raising a family, standing in line in the grocery store, with my baloney and sandwich fixin's so I could carry my own lunch to work, and have a guy in front of me paying for thick t-bone steaks with his food stamps and then paying for his liquor and dog food (which weren't permitted with food stamps) peeling a 100 dollar bill off the roll.
Now I can't speak to his financial situation, but it sure looked to me like he was living pretty high on the hog!
