Quote du jour

The editor of this anthology, who took part and was wounded in the last war to end war, hates war and hates all the politicians whose mismanagement, gullibility, cupidity, selfishness, and ambition brought on this present war and made it inevitable. But once we have a war there is only one thing to do. It must be won. For defeat brings worse things than any that can ever happen in a war.

-Ernest Hemingway

  1. Would be helpful if we could actually name the enemy, huh? It's Islamofascists, right? Then why are we not able to identify them and snuff them out on our very own soil? It infuriates me. Peter King catches hell for trying to give Islamic reformers a voice. While I value Hemingway's statement of experience and balanced reason, this is not like the war he fought in. Every war has it's gray area, but the gray areas are in our courts now, in our legislatures.. in our culture, our entertainment, in our streets and cul-de-sacs, certainly in our public schools, neighbor against neighbor. Winning is going to be gray as well.

  2. Red: It may not be the kind of war he fought in, but the principle is the same I think. No matter how much you may try to avoid it, once you're in a war, you fight to win
