Avengers Assemble the Box Office Records

The Avengers, it seems, are once again making the world safe for Marvel comics.
It’s another record-breaking weekend for the Marvel/Disney cinematic steamroller The Avengers. With a stunning $103 million, The Avengers now holds the records for biggest opening weekend and second weekend in domestic box office history. On top of that, the film set records for largest 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 day grosses.

...All of this is good enough to make The Avengers the 11th highest grossing film worldwide of all time with more than $1 BILLION, after just 19 days in total release and only 10 days in domestic release.

By next Sunday, The Avengers will almost certainly take another huge leap once again, all the way to 4th highest grossing film of all time, and looks like it might actually end up north of $1.3 billion to challenge for the #3 spot. If that happens, only Avatar and Titanic — both with more than $2 billion worldwide box office — will rank higher than The Avengers.

C'mon, folks! Do your part to kick Avatar and Titanic to the curb. You can do it! (Some assembly required.)

My take on the movie is here.

    1. I don't think you'll be disappointed. But if you're a cheap SOB like me, take in a matinee...
