President Al Gore

One of the scariest things to contemplate, is what would have happened if Al Gore had been President on 9/11/01 and what his response to the terrorists would have been?

Fortunately for us, we never had to find out. But the reason for Albert's loss is one of the more amusing bits of irony in American history!

As I have pointed out in other venues, the Democrats have no one to blame but themselves that the exalted enviroweenie Algore is NOT the President of the United States!
The Republicans in the House impeached Clinton. The Linguine-spined Democrats in the Senate refused to convict. Because of their cowardice (or because Bill had something on them), Al Gore was NOT the incumbent President going into the 2000 elections. (The same Al who said he would have done things differently in Florida with Elian Gonzalez had he been President!)

So, the cowardly Democrats denied Al both the incumbency and the chance to improve his standing in Florida, either one of which would have undoubtedly tipped the race in his favor.

And so, you have only gutless Democrats to thank for why Al's campaign slogan wasn't: Re-Elect President Al Gore!

One of the two most delicious ironies I know!

Update: To be fair, I really should give the Dems another out. Extreme partisanship would have the same look as cowardice. (The results are still the same!)

  1. That's brilliant irony. I'm sure the Dems were so busy rushing to the aid of their "sexually addicted" president, who was busy redefining the word "is" that strategy never entered their minds. That's the best news I've read all day and gives me hope for the future.

  2. strategy never entered their minds I suspect that they were threatened by Bill or someone working on Bill's behalf. They were too worried about their immediate political survival to worry about strategy...or what was best for the country!
