CBS News:
Oh, I get it...it matters not if we peasants want closure too and want to see photos of his rotting, bloated, grotesque corpse...we must not "offend" the sensibilities of the Muslim world (read: savages across the Middle East that hold Osama Bin Laden up as a leader) and must treat the photos of Bin Laden's body with every bit of respect that we possibly can!WASHINGTON - Osama bin Laden was shot above his left eye and the bullet blew away part of his skull, a U.S. official says. He was also shot in the chest.
The precision kill shot was delivered by a member of the Navy's elite SEAL Team Six during a pre-dawn raid Monday on bin Laden's hideout in Pakistan.
The administration is still weighing whether to release photos of bin Laden's corpse and video of his swift burial at sea. Officials were reluctant to inflame Islamic sentiment by showing graphic images of the body. But they were also eager to address the mythology already building in Pakistan and beyond that bin Laden was somehow still alive.
Given the political correctness involved with the handling of Bin Laden's body, the campaign that killed him + DNA verification of the body + sea burial in the course of what, 8 hours?, and the suspicious rush to dispose of it at sea, (regardless, clerics are saying that his body was not handled properly) it is no wonder that many are clamoring to see photos of Bin Laden's rotting corpse and video of Bin Laden's "burial" at sea.
I think we deserve to see both of these things and nothing short of it. And don't give me the "graphic warning" line of b.s. from the White House...I think that we can handle seeing photos of his mangled corpse...it's needed for closure, plain and simple.
Millions of people want to see photos of Bin Laden's dead body. And because of what he did to alter the makeup of this nation -- killing thousands in both war and civilian terror and all of us that have "given up" freedoms that must deal with the TSA and air travel as it is now -- deserve to see his body in all of its grotesqueness.
Don't forget, Bin Laden gave us this:
And this:
And the thousands of lives and pre-9-11 freedoms that we enjoyed and subsequently lost will never be gotten back...

Updated: It turns out that the pressure is too great....photo(s) will be released but it is unclear as to when.
Very well said LCR...Count me as one wants to see the POS with a hole in his head.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Randy
ReplyDeleteThe whole 'history vs his story' argument is not that strong since we do have 'history' on video, so it's not like Obama can reenact something different for the stills.
ReplyDeleteI must quibble with your notion that Osama bin Laden is responsible for our "given up freedoms."
ReplyDelete9/11 was the excuse our government used, not the reason.
The government had more than enough information and opportunity to prevent the attacks, but per usual, they failed. Miserably. They used their own failure to enact all sorts of draconian police state measures on us. Considering the direction this country has been heading over my 42 years of life, its hardly a stretch to assume they've wanted to enact the police state for a long time. It fits perfectly with the 2-monopoly party progressive agenda.
Did our Founders make excuses for King George III? Or did they lay the blame where it belonged?
Osama bin Laden certainly did a lot of horrible things, but he did not take our freedoms away. Our own government did. And stealing our liberties have only made things worse.
