Wasserman Schultz's Bold Election Year Gambit

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Man, I never saw this coming!

WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) Democrat National Committee Chairperson, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, in a rare, and some might say gutsy, bipartisan election year move, has called upon both party officials and rank and file Democrats to apologize to former President George W. Bush.

“We were wrong to blame President Bush for high gasoline prices during his two terms in office”, according to a press release from Wasserman Schultz. “Over the last two and a half years, it has become painfully clear to us that the President has virtually no control over gasoline prices. “
“To imply that gasoline prices were held high in order for Bush’s oil buddies to profit, is demonstrably wrong, given the fact that President Obama has no oil buddies north of Venezuela, and prices have continued to soar. “
She concluded by saying, “We deeply regret having made those statements, knowing now what we didn’t know then. We now concur with President Bush on the inability of the White House to influence fuel prices."

Wasserman Schultz must really be sweating Obama's election prospects if the only way she can give Obama cover for his energy policy is an apology to George Bush! What's that sound? Oh. Another liberal head 'sploding!

  5. Gents: I've been sitting on this rant for a week. After eight years, EIGHT YEARS, of slurs and accusations against George Bush for crony capitalism, funneling large amounts of cash to one's friends and political supporters (can you say "Solyndra"?), eight years of "that's what you get when you have an oil man in the White House", "Bush and Cheney are both oil men", "Bush is keeping prices high for his 'oil buddies'", when I saw President Hopey Changey look into the camera and tell the American public that the president has 'little to no control' over gasoline prices, my jaw dropped.

How can anyone with any intellectual honesty at all, stand there and say that the president can't control gasoline products without a concomitant apology to George W. Bush for all the Leftist Talking Points and insults he endured for two terms?

Then, I thought it would make a good...timely message, and actually, if they were to adopt that strategy, it might even work out for them, if only they could overcome their collective Bush Derangement Syndrome.

  6. On a side note, what does it say when a lowly blogger can cobble together a story that sounds very much like it could have been run by the AP? (Okay, except for that crack about "north of Venezuela". That was a little over the top, but it was the first obvious clue that the story was a fake.)

  9. What's the punchline? .... but Obama does. He could lower the price right now by allowing drilling and pipelines.

    1. If they thought they could get away with it, the Democrats and their environmentalist wacko base would rather apologize to George Bush than drill for new oil. And given the ferocity of their BDS, that's saying something! Neither will happen any time soon, at least, not on federally controlled lands.

    2. The President has the ability to freeze gas prices. Nixon did it
when he was in office. I'm sure Obummer loves the high price we are paying for gas...evidently he hasn't considered the fact that the
constant price hikes could keep many from going to work. Where will he get more money to give away to those who will not work, and suck free off the rest of us.

    3. Carol: Nixon also demonstrated that wage and price freezes do not work. One, if you freeze the price of the end product, without curbing the costs, you decrease the supply. Shortages, long lines or worst case scenario - rationing results. Besides, any hint at a government freeze and businesses respond quickly to raise their prices while it is still legal.

And the current health crisis originated, in part, from a wage freeze by FDR. Companies could not offer prospective employees higher salaries, so they offered them...health benefits. When people stopped, in large part, paying for their health care needs themselves, a cycle of waste and abuse was started that raised health care costs faster than inflation.

As to Obama "loving" the high prices, Obama and a number of his cabinet have long advocated raising the taxes on gasoline to European levels. (Equiv. $8.25/ gal in Germany recently) Unfortunately, the Obama administration's Marxist worldview is running the economy into the ground so quickly, that there's not enough wealth left to fund their grandiose Utopian plans.
