Which would be a smart move even if they weren't! Remember in the original John Wick, they referred to him as the bogeyman. Or the bogeyman that even the bogeyman feared. As long as Iran thinks that Israel is the bogeyman, that can slip behind their defense at will and do their worst, Iran will be hesitant to make the bogeyman angry.
