Ten Bucks and Change

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The winner of this week's Ten Buck Friday is...Eric Wargotz, with 54% of the vote.

My friend Right Klik suggests that because of the controversy surrounding Mr. Wargotz, that it would be okay for just one week to follow your conscience and give your ten bucks to the candidate of your choice.

Put your money where it will do the most good.

  1. It undermines the whole premise of the poll if we ignore the results. Why shouldn't I just donate my conscience all the time?

I support Dr. Wargotz and encourage folks to view this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVumRDNpfBw

    All the best,

You are certainly free to do just that, just as is everyone who has been promoting Ten Buck Fridays. I know of several bloggers who are a bit taken aback at what might be deemed Dr. Wargotz's "birther" remarks. There have also been questions raised about the veracity of polling numbers he released showing him to be "leading Barbara Mikulski statewide".

I would not ask anyone to go against their conscience in donating to any specific candidate, when there are so many that can use our support between now and November.

This is a voluntary alliance of donors. It is clear that not everyone volunteers to support Dr. Wargotz.

I consider myself to be a native son of Maryland. It would gladden my heart to see the likes of Barbara Mikulski driven out of office there. Good luck to you and the good doctor!

  3. Dear Proof Positive, a fellow Marylander here! Great to find you.
Now come on, don't drink the cool aid ;)
Wargotz is no birther. In fact,he rejected that notion AND it appears the video was edited before distributed. He refuted that label and clarified that in mainstream press in Maryland. You can find it in his press room at his website www.wargotz.com I always do my own research before jumping to conclusions. Wargotz never said that obama wasn't a US citizen. I can tell you that the Stark video statement on birth place was very smart. Why? Because when he wins the primary, if Miluski brings it up then mainstream press will be all over him and he gets great mainstream attention and name recog. and an opportunity to dispel, etc. Also, the poll thing has been twisted by opponents. reality is, numbers don't lie and he is leading Mikulski in Balt county, CD1 and I find his results encouraging even though it may be a limited sampling. He is a VERY smart man and deserves all of our support and dollars. Don't sell him short. His donation page link is https://www.fundraisingbynet.net/fbn/contributeFederal.asp?guidRegistration=5C5B5C57 Thanks.

  4. If he can kick Mikulski's butt, then more power to him!
I was not advocating withdrawing the TBF support from him so much as acknowledging that it was there. Since I posted the above, I've learned of at least one other blogger who has reacted unfavorably to the controversy, warranted or not.

And I certainly do not want to discourage supporting as many good candidates as possible. I would rather that someone gave money to a "runner up" than to sit on their hands this week.

Thanks for the info. And thanks for bearing the standard in a state, which to outside eyes, looks unbearably liberal.

  5. Thanks for the post, Proof.

To the critics, I'd like to point out that the idea of Ten Buck Fridays is much bigger than one specific candidate, one state, one congressional district, or the results on one specific week.

We hit a little bump in the road this week, but my focus is on the future. We want good candidates to replace the Democrats who will inevitably go down in November.
