This Last Week’s Poll, Obama's "Lipstick On A Pig" remark, was pretty evenly split between

"He knew how it would be taken. Crass slur." 55.5%
and
"Clever slur, with deniability." 44.5%

That would be 100% slur, with differences on the type of slur.

"Tired cliche, but no slur!" and
"Tempest in a teapot" were both non-starters.
