Sometimes, the predictable, mindless kneejerk liberals wander through bleating about how partisan we are on the right (As opposed to the Left? Yeah, right!), how we never do anything but criticize Obama. First of all, it's not true. Second, maybe if next time you field a candidate without so very much to criticize, we can do less!
But, here is an article on an action of the President, that at first blush, I feel I can stand behind one hundred per cent!
(RTTNews) - The U.S. administration announced Friday that it has notified the Congress about plans to sell $6.4 billion worth of arms to Taiwan, a move that risks straining of relations with China.
The sales package proposed by Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency in its notice to the Congress includes 60 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters, 114 Patriot "Advanced Capability" missile defenses known as PAC-3, 12 advanced Harpoon missiles capable of both land-strike and anti-ship missions, communications equipment for Taiwan's F-16 fleet.
The proposed arms package also includes two refurbished Osprey-class mine-hunting ships, but failed to meet Taiwan's demand for 66 new U.S. Lockheed Martin F-16C/D fighter jets to upgrade its F-16 fleet.
The notice forwarded to the Congress informing the lawmakers about the proposed sale is in accordance with the U.S. law, which states that any such sale of weapons to another country must get Congressional approval before the deal can be executed. The notice gives the lawmakers 30 days to submit comments or objections on the proposed sale.
This is a stand to support our allies and I am with you Mr. President, whenever you stand for the defense of our allies.

If I remember right, but could be wrong, Bush set up the deal to sell these weapons to Taiwan. Howver, I will give it to Obama for not stopping it. That I will support him on.
ReplyDeleteSeeing as how he reneged on so many things that Bush had committed us to (like a missile shield for Poland), I have to give him kudos that he had enough spine to stand up to the Chinese on this one.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the ink isn't dry yet...
