AOL Takes Sharp Left Turn - Buys Huffington Post

...and turns control of its own news gathering operations to Arianna Huffington.

Arianna Huffington, the cable talk show pundit, author and doyenne of the political left, will take control of all of AOL’s editorial content as president and editor in chief of a newly created Huffington Post Media Group. The arrangement will give her oversight not only of AOL’s national, local and financial news operations, but also of the company’s other media enterprises like MapQuest and Moviefone.

As I recall, the Huff Po was about one year away from shutting its doors for lack of funding. Her left wing boutique wasn't paying its own way, under her leadership. Now she will steer the ship of AOL's news gathering operations?
A word to the wise... if you have AOL stock: Sell.

  2. She's been looking for people to "invest" (i.e. money down the rat hole) in the Huff Po for a long time.

With AOL's backing, she can do what liberals are best at: Spending other people's money.

  3. I didn't know AOL still existed. I tend to assume companies are defunct when I don't get a CD from them twice a month.

  4. LOL! I'd forgotten about all the CDs they used to send out.
