When liberal politicians tell you that conservatives want to "end Medicare as we know it", the operative words are "as we know it". As we know it today, Medicare is going bankrupt. If it crashes and burns under its own weight, that too will "end Medicare as we know it".
It's the unsustainability that needs to be changed, not demagogued.

ReplyDeleteIt's like when the Republicans wanted to send control of school lunches back to the states. They offered more Federal money than they had received before, but Democrats demagogued it by saying "Republicans want to cut school lunches".
ReplyDeleteOnly in a town where spending more money is a "cut", the Democrats pride themselves on being "technically correct" as they lie through their teeth.
