The Pan-STARRS comet, that is. My dead tree newspaper was telling me the best time to view this was this coming Tuesday and Wednesday nights, just about sundown. It should be visible to the naked eye. I'll pause here while the less mature among you catch up. ("He said 'naked'! Heh.") But binoculars would certainly help.
If the sun has not gone down fully, there's a special treat for Obama supporters! He has written a secret message to you on the surface of the sun, only visible with binoculars. Look for it!* For all others, ix-nay on looking directly at the sun through binoculars, telescopes, etc. (as if I really needed to tell you that!)
It will appear in the western sky. That's the side where the sun goes down, for those of you in Rio Linda. And it should appear close to the rising crescent moon.
Hot Air, OTOH, says "Starting tonight and lasting through March 20th". So, if you've got a few minutes to spare around dusk one of these evenings, now's the time to enjoy life the way it was meant to be...not sitting at a computer monitor, but peeking over your neighbor's fence at sundown, with binoculars, the way God intended!
Hope you catch a glimpse of it. If not, the folks at Hot Air tell us that the big comet of 2013, Comet ISON, is coming by this next November.
Keep an eye out for those heavenly bodies!
