Once the government has the power to do something, it is a deadlock cinch that someone will propose an argument for using that power for the "greater good." Sometimes that will be a good idea. Other times it will just seem like a good idea. And still other times, it will be an obviously bad idea. Or maybe it will actually be a good idea that creates entirely unforeseeable negative consequences.
