  1. Tell me guys. Do you watch TV news? Which TV news do you watch?

  2. I scarcely watch TV 'news' at all. I can get better editorial commentary all over the web. I read newspapers both online and dead tree. I listen to radio news when I'm in the car, but most of my news comes from trusted sources, key word "sources", as in "more than one".

I stopped watching network news on a regular basis about the time of the Bush/ Dukakis race. In his own "what's the frequency, Kenneth?" form of balance, Dan Rather interviewed both candidates. The first night was a softball question to Gov. Dukakis: "Tell us about the 'Massachusetts Miracle'?"

The next night, he ambushed George H.W. with the equivalent of "When did you stop beating your wife?" Now Bush 41 didn't roll over and he showed some spine in standing up to Rather. But the obvious bias in those two interviews, the kid gloves with Dukakis and the open hostility towards Bush, along with some other biases I had noted in CBS News, turned me into a former viewer.

  3. I remember that! You'd think you'd have loved Rather after that! Bush came out looking like a champ. The trouble with softballs is that you can't hit them very far.

  4. The outcome wasn't bad. It was just 180 degrees out from what Rather intended. Poor Dan was just as good at sabotaging campaigns as he was in forging TANG documents.

  5. Like the proof, I don't watch TV news unless it's local news. I get my national and international news from multiple sources on the web.

  6. I get the local dead tree paper and my weather, including radar maps, online. Even given the teases they like to give, I can seldom sit through local news any more

  7. I watch the local news because it's between the 10 pm slot and watching Jimmy Kimmel. It fills the time.

  8. At least they usually have attractive people to read the news!
