Happy April Fool's Day!
If you've been visiting here for very long, you know that I like nothing better than a good April Fool's prank. Sometimes, I plan them out months in advance. The last couple of years have been inspired, if I do say so myself, but my readers are a really sharp bunch. It's awfully hard to get anything by them, particularly on April the 1st. So, this year, I decided to go for subtle...
Update: How subtle was it? Well, it was enough to make George Washington smirk. No. Literally. I gave the Father of our Country a slight raise of the brow and turned up the corners of his mouth in the banner. I also gave him just a touch of a cleft chin. I really should do an animated gif sometime. Switching back and forth between the two pictures gives the illusion of George cracking a smile.

After a week of anticipation, tonight's FNBs* are selected for their many contributions to society, rather than merely as sex objects. So, tonight, I present the real women of Rule Five!

And if you clicked in here from Somewhere Else, the real Friday Night Babe is here.

"It Takes a Child to Raze a Village"...Hillary Clinton, on Obama's firing over 100 cruise missiles into Libya.*
*Okay. It's April Fool's, but it certainly sounds like something she would say!

Environmentalists Breed Cow That Bites Back
Houston: Cattle growers are more than a little nervous about a project funded by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) carried out by researchers at UC Berkeley."I see nothing wrong with bio-engineering as long as the results are favorable," said chief research fellow Dr. Irvine M. Kidding. "We are expecting a breakthough to be coming almost any day now".
All I can say is: "Wow!"
Update: Welcome to all you from The PETA Files! Glad you stopped by!

To Fool, or Not to Fool...That is the Question...
April Fool's Day has come and gone. I'll admit that I toyed briefly with the idea of posting some bit of fluff designed to amuse and momentarily confuse the reader, but it's so hard to compete with current events, where the absurd, bizarre, and seemingly unbelievable are more and more commonplace.
If I had written, for example, that Obama gave the Queen of England an iPod loaded with pictures of himself and his speeches, would anyone have believed me? Yeah. Right! I certainly couldn't have written it with a straight face! Or make up something like the cheesy Presidential DVD gift to a visiting head of state with poor eyesight? An illegal alien auntie living in public housing? Trillions of dollars of spending because the previous administration ran up too much debt?
The main reason that truth is stranger than fiction is because fiction has to make sense!
So, during the reign of the Obamanation, in the Age of Internets, I will forgo any attempts at April Fool's jokes... at least until the rest of reality catches up with something that's at least vaguely credible.
