Quote du jour
It is not excess of thought but defect of fertile & generous emotion that marks them out... We make men without chests and expect of them virtue & enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst.— C.S. Lewis

If you steal bread from a convenience store because your child is hungry, I sympathize. If you get caught, you may be separated from your child for breaking the law. "We had to cross the border illegally, because the lines were too long", is not the most compelling of arguments.-Mike B

Hate crimes are loathsome. Faking them is insidious and shouldn’t be excused. Despite Smollett’s denials, nothing the prosecutor said in dismissing the case supports that.-David Axelrod

Happy 11th Blogiversary!
As the swallows return to Capistrano, and Capistranians return to swallow, so comes the eleventh blogiversary of Proof Positive. By the numbers: This time last year, over 13,000 posts, 1.6 Million hits* and over 5 Million+ page views from 222 countries. Nine days after I started, I added the widget from the dearly departed Sitemeter, (RIP) which started off at about three hits a day (and one of them was me!). Somewhere between a million and a million two, I had to dump the cootie infested Sitemeter and took up with Statcounter.
Today, over 14,450 posts, approximately 2 Million hits* and just short of 6 Million page views from 222** countries.
This is not a solo effort. On Team Proof we find artist and cartoonist extraordinaire John Cox . His KiRKWOOD and editorial cartoons enhance our pages and entertain us daily. You'll sometimes see his talents applied to the weekly banners as well.
For those of you who visit on a regular basis, thank you. Thanks for visiting here, whether contemplating the deep mysteries of life, the deep mystery of Life (why does Mikey like it?), or just laughing as we poke fun at the foibles of fools. For those of you who were just
As Editor-in-chief, el Jefe Grande, and all around cook and bottle washer, I ultimately take credit and/or blame for everything that appears here. To make this something you enjoy reading, I first make it something I would. Not everything here is meant to be earth shattering or profound, sometimes it's just funny, or, at least, interesting to me. And there's at least some new content everyday for non subscribers. (Subscribers sit with me on the beach, sipping rum drinks at Hanauma Bay. Subscription price To Be Determined.)
It's been a great ten years. Most days are more fun than work. sometimes wonder just how much fun a man can stand! I have been joined here by some outstanding talents, to entertain, enlighten and inform you. I appreciate every one who visits here, even the ones who disagree with me. (And you know who you are!) I'm trying to educate you just as fast as I can!
The Future of the Blog
Consulting my Magic Eight Ball: "Future uncertain. Try again later." You may have already noticed some changes around here. Some regular features ain't so regular any more. After 400+ editions of Sex in Advertising, I think I made my point. Living Medal of Honor recipients will be updated, but not as a weekly feature. I'm currently rethinking the whole "Rule Five" aspect of the blog. As I have stated in the past, the use of Robert Stacy McCain's Rule Five, was to get eyeballs onto the blog, in hopes that once they passed through the door of the establishment, they might stay and check out some of the other things on display.
But I'm not doing much long form writing these days, so...there's less "on display". Plus, when I started this blog eleven years ago, Christie Brinkley would have never been considered a "Vintage Babe". Sic transit gloria mundi!
So, buckle up! We may be in for a bumpy ride! Who knows what tomorrow may bring?

It is in vain when conscience is aroused to fly to feelings and evidences for comfort: this is a habit which we learned in the Egypt of our legal bondage. The only restorative for a guilty conscience is a sight of Jesus suffering on the cross.

I was doing some quick research on college conservatives and came across your piece. It gave me talking ideas for the article I wrote, so I was hoping to get some feedback from you.
