It could be argued that the 30 minute infomercial (Billy May sells politicians: But, wait! There's more! ) is overkill. If Obama & CO. believed all the polls that had him 10 points ahead, why take the chance that an unprecedented half hour infomercial on multiple networks might send the wrong message?

It seems that the close polls, the ones that are still within the margin of error, are causing the Democrats more than a few sleepless nights. The above video is just another example of the panic.

Second Lieutenant Daniel K. Inouye

Citation:
Second Lieutenant Daniel K. Inouye distinguished himself by extraordinary heroism in action on 21 April 1945, in the vicinity of San Terenzo, Italy. While attacking a defended ridge guarding an important road junction, Second Lieutenant Inouye skillfully directed his platoon through a hail of automatic weapon and small arms fire, in a swift enveloping movement that resulted in the capture of an artillery and mortar post and brought his men to within 40 yards of the hostile force. Emplaced in bunkers and rock formations, the enemy halted the advance with crossfire from three machine guns. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Second Lieutenant Inouye crawled up the treacherous slope to within five yards of the nearest machine gun and hurled two grenades, destroying the emplacement. Before the enemy could retaliate, he stood up and neutralized a second machine gun nest. Although wounded by a sniper’s bullet, he continued to engage other hostile positions at close range until an exploding grenade shattered his right arm. Despite the intense pain, he refused evacuation and continued to direct his platoon until enemy resistance was broken and his men were again deployed in defensive positions. In the attack, 25 enemy soldiers were killed and eight others captured. By his gallant, aggressive tactics and by his indomitable leadership, Second Lieutenant Inouye enabled his platoon to advance through formidable resistance, and was instrumental in the capture of the ridge. Second Lieutenant Inouye’s extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit on him, his unit, and the United States Army.

Lieutenant Inouye : We humbly salute you and thank you for your service.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is very critical of U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama's positions on Iran, according to reports that have reached Israel's government.

Sarkozy has made his criticisms only in closed forums in France. But according to a senior Israeli government source, the reports reaching Israel indicate that Sarkozy views the Democratic candidate's stance on Iran as "utterly immature" and comprised of "formulations empty of all content."

Listen to him in his own words. This is not just an offhanded remark to "Joe the Plumber". This sounds a lot like socialism. Can the US afford Barack "The Spreader" Obama?

When in his short time in national politics he racked up the most liberal – ie, the most doctrinaire, the most orthodox, the most reflex — voting record in the Senate? Or when, on those many occasions the questions got complex and required a choice, he dodged it and voted merely “present”?

Hundreds of Thousands of ACORN Registrations Rejected -NYT

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Four hundred thousand (at least) bogus registrations rejected.
But, ACORN isn't trying to game the system! (Bridge for sale below the fold!)

On Oct. 6, the community organizing group Acorn and an affiliated charity called Project Vote announced with jubilation that they had registered 1.3 million new voters. But it turns out the claim was a wild exaggeration, and the real number of newly registered voters nationwide is closer to 450,000, Project Vote’s executive director, Michael Slater, said in an interview.
The remainder are registered voters who were changing their address and roughly 400,000 that were rejected by election officials for a variety of reasons, including duplicate registrations, incomplete forms and fraudulent submissions from low-paid field workers trying to please their supervisors, Mr. Slater acknowledged.

In registration drives, it is common for a percentage of newly registered voters to be disqualified for various reasons, although experts say the percentage is higher when groups pay workers to gather registrations. But the disclosure on Thursday that 30 percent of Acorn’s registrations were faulty was described by Republicans as further proof of what they said was Acorn’s effort to tilt the election unfairly.

You mean to tell me that one out of three of every one of 1.3 Million registrations had a problem, and ACORN wants to claim that they only had a few bad apples who were quickly fired? I don't think so! This is either incompetence on a grand scale or systematic in its scope. And no one is that incompetent!

Acorn officials said they were unable to provide a state-by-state breakdown identifying where the fraudulent voter registrations were submitted, but a spokesman said that at least some bogus cards cropped up in all 18 states where the group had major registration drives. Acorn conducted smaller drives in three other states.

...The group also said it was forced to fire 829 of the 10,000 canvassers it hired during the election for job-related problems, including falsifying registration forms. Acorn officials say they pay canvassers an hourly wage and not by the number of forms they obtain.

So they fired roughly 8% of their staff, who were responsible for how much of the fraud? Forgive my skepticism, but how do we know that you didn't fire the 8% that were honest?

Thirteen campaign workers for Barack Obama yesterday yanked their voter registrations and ballots in Ohio after being warned by a prosecutor that temporary residents can't vote in the battleground state.

A dozen staffers - including Obama Ohio spokeswoman Olivia Alair and James Cadogan, who recently joined Team Obama - signed a form letter asking the Franklin County elections board to pull their names from the rolls.

Earlier in the week, (prosecutor) O'Brien spoke with lawyers for both camps and urged them to make sure their staffs met permanent-residency rules, or face possible felony charges.

...On Thursday, O'Brien cut a deal with 13 out-of-staters, including four from New York, who tossed out their already-cast ballots and admitted they didn't meet residency requirements.

Why Krauthammer is voting for McCain

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

On "McCain the Stalwart"

The inimitable Charles Krauthammer with a litany of reasons to vote for John McCain.

After dismissing several phony reasons not to vote for him, Krauthammer asks:

Who do you want answering that phone at 3 a.m.? A man who's been cramming on these issues for the last year, who's never had to make an executive decision affecting so much as a city, let alone the world? A foreign policy novice instinctively inclined to the flabbiest, most vaporous multilateralism (e.g., the Berlin Wall came down because of "a world that stands as one"), and who refers to the most deliberate act of war since Pearl Harbor as "the tragedy of 9/11," a term more appropriate for a bus accident?

Good point! If the world "stood as one" then why was there any conflict? Who was on the other side of the wall?

Or do you want a man who is the most prepared, most knowledgeable, most serious foreign policy thinker in the United States Senate? A man who not only has the best instincts, but has the honor and the courage to, yes, put country first, as when he carried the lonely fight for the surge that turned Iraq from catastrophic defeat into achievable strategic victory?

Obama was against the war in Iraq, even though he has said he would take action in Darfur to stop genocide, though he has never made a distinction as to what actions he would take unilaterally and how they would be any different from what Bush did in Iraq, other than there would be no strategic interest of the United States involved in an incursion into Darfur!

There's just no comparison. Obama's own running mate warned this week that Obama's youth and inexperience will invite a crisis -- indeed a crisis "generated" precisely to test him. Can you be serious about national security and vote on Nov. 4 to invite that test?

And how will he pass it? Well, how has he fared on the only two significant foreign policy tests he has faced since he's been in the Senate? The first was the surge. Obama failed spectacularly. He not only opposed it. He tried to denigrate it, stop it and, finally, deny its success.

The second test was Georgia, to which Obama responded instinctively with evenhanded moral equivalence, urging restraint on both sides. McCain did not have to consult his advisers to instantly identify the aggressor.

Well, after McCain made his statement, Obama did say "Me, too!" That counts in global high stakes diplomacy, yes? Krauthammer concludes:

Today's economic crisis, like every other in our history, will in time pass. But the barbarians will still be at the gates. Whom do you want on the parapet? I'm for the guy who can tell the lion from the lamb.

Do We Really Want to go Back to 1976?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Obama's Changes in transportation!

A newcomer to national politics, he claimed to transcend partisan labels. He moved to the center during the campaign, at a time when the Democrats held large congressional majorities. In a troubled economy, he told voters he would keep taxes down for most Americans, limit spending, and balance the budget, all while implementing ambitious social programs. He planned to cut military spending to free money for other purposes, but assured moderates and conservatives that when it came to America’s enemies, he would be tougher than the Republicans. The media, droves of moderates, and some conservatives believed him, having pegged him as a man of character.

His name was Jimmy Carter, the year was 1976, and he won. His presidency helps us predict the likely results of an Obama victory in 2008.

"I Gave John McCain my Purple Heart"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Marine Sgt. Jack Eubanks and friend

Byron York at NRO has the story of 22 year old Marine Sgt. Jack Eubanks, twice wounded in Iraq.

“I just gave John McCain my Purple Heart,” Marine Sgt. Jack Eubanks told me a few minutes after McCain finished a speech at a campaign rally in Woodbridge, Virginia Saturday. “I said, ‘I want to give this to you, sir, as a reminder that we want you to keep your promise to bring us home in victory and honor, so it will mean something. We fought over there, and we want it to mean something,” Eubanks continued. “We don’t want to come back and it just be all for nothing.”

Eubanks, 22 years old, knows as much about the war as anyone. On October 3, 2005, he was in a Humvee on patrol near the Syrian border when an IED went off. “I was thrown from the vehicle, took some shrapnel, landed on my spine and mashed it up a little bit,” Eubanks told me in a remarkably good-humored way. He was injured much more than just a little; it took him eleven months to recover. And then — then he volunteered to go back. In August 2007, he was hurt again in a strangely similar way. “Hit by a mortar, thrown from a vehicle — the same situation,” Eubanks told me. Now, he’s teaching recruits at Marine Corps Base Quantico — and walking with a cane.

These days, as he ponders the war and the meaning it has for him — he says he saw remarkable progress in Iraq between his 2005 and 2007 tours — Eubanks’s overwhelming fear is that it might all be for naught. “I think Obama’s just going to pull everyone home as soon as he can, despite what’s going on over there,” he told me. “I just don’t want it to turn into another Vietnam or worse where everything we fought for, and all my buddies who died over there, it was just for nothing.” Eubanks believes McCain — he called McCain “so inspiring” and said he was in awe of the senator during their brief meeting — will prevent that from happening.

York then goes on to detail a conversation with Greg Medina, the father of a Marine killed in Fallujah. Read the story. See why York concludes:

Eubanks and Greg Medina are counting on John McCain to keep his promise, should he become commander-in-chief. Some things are more important than the economy.

The Medal of Honor

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Sergeant John D. Hawk

Citation:
He manned a light machinegun on 20 August 1944, near Chambois, France, a key point in the encirclement which created the Falaise Pocket. During an enemy counterattack, his position was menaced by a strong force of tanks and infantry. His fire forced the infantry to withdraw, but an artillery shell knocked out his gun and wounded him in the right thigh. Securing a bazooka, he and another man stalked the tanks and forced them to retire to a wooded section. In the lull which followed, Sgt. Hawk reorganized 2 machinegun squads and, in the face of intense enemy fire, directed the assembly of 1 workable weapon from 2 damaged guns. When another enemy assault developed, he was forced to pull back from the pressure of spearheading armor. Two of our tank destroyers were brought up. Their shots were ineffective because of the terrain until Sgt. Hawk, despite his wound, boldly climbed to an exposed position on a knoll where, unmoved by fusillades from the enemy, he became a human aiming stake for the destroyers. Realizing that his shouted fire directions could not be heard above the noise of battle, he ran back to the destroyers through a concentration of bullets and shrapnel to correct the range. He returned to his exposed position, repeating this performance until 2 of the tanks were knocked out and a third driven off. Still at great risk, he continued to direct the destroyers' fire into the Germans' wooded position until the enemy came out and surrendered. Sgt. Hawk's fearless initiative and heroic conduct, even while suffering from a painful wound, was in large measure responsible for crushing 2 desperate attempts of the enemy to escape from the Falaise Picket and for taking more than 500 prisoners.

Sergeant Hawk: We humbly salute you and thank you for your service.

Jeffrey Breinholt explains how even American libel laws can be used to intimidate and silence speech. As I point out in “Not Without a Fight,” what really protects free speech here in the United States is the value we place upon it, and the shame we would feel handling criticism by way of law suits. When it comes to silencing critics, on the other hand, the Obama campaign appears to have no shame. That augers poorly for the culture of free exchange. As Tocqueville reminds us, habits of the heart, even more than the law itself, stand as our most important protections against tyranny. If Obama continues to break one free-speech taboo after another, the law will surely follow.

What's Biden Hidin'?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Evidence, in light of recent statements, that he still has a brain!

Newly released medical records from vice presidential candidate Joe Biden do not include the results of any recent brain scans, which some experts consider necessary to assess whether the senator is at risk for a repeat of the brain aneurysms that nearly killed him 20 years ago.

Biden's survived in Congress for over twenty years without a brain, no need to look for one now!

...the 49 pages of records the campaign released gave no indication that Biden's doctors sought follow-up tests after the serious aneurysms he suffered in 1988. Medical experts are divided over the need for such precautionary brain scans, but many feel it is the only way to be sure a patient is out of danger.

"If this was my patient, I would re-image every three to five years to make sure no new aneurysm had cropped up," said Dr. Mark Alberts, a professor of neurology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.

Joe Biden Speaks Truth to America

"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities.
-ABC News

Joe Biden, Obama's foreign policy "expert", is predicting that one or more of America's enemies will take advantage of Obama's inexperience within the first six months of an Obama presidency. Biden, who once famously said of Obama, that the White House was not the place for on the job training, illustrates the peril of electing a political novice to the highest office in the world's last remaining superpower.

The Middle East? An attack by Iran on Israel or vice versa? China threatening Taiwan? Another Russian incursion? Obama's first instinct was to be on both sides of the last conflict. Any evidence he would be any better on the next one? Sadly, no.

Biden seems pretty confident that somewhere on the planet, one or more groups will be emboldened by the perceived weakness of an Obama presidency to take drastic actions against America or its allies, sooner rather than later. Do we really want to gamble the future of this country on a smooth talking political opportunist and the old Washington insider who seems to know him better than the rest of us?

Nancy Pelosi promised a balanced budget. She promised the "most ethical" Congress in history and she vowed to reduce the unconscionably high gas prices of $2.30 a gallon!

How has that change worked out for you, America? Spending bills originate in the House. The national debt has doubled in the last two years with Pelosi's Democrats in charge of both the House and Senate. Coincidentally, the price of gasoline doubled over the last two years. And the Democrats that tell us that it will take ten years to get oil from ANWR have been blocking the drilling of that tiny portion of wasteland at the northern fringe of ANWR for at least ten years!

Twice the national debt instead of a balanced budget. No discernible effort to reduce the price of gas. And if ethics were a heartbeat, this body would have no detectable pulse! Consider that no actions have been taken against Dollar Bill Jefferson, for example, with his $90,000 in the freezer, or Charlie Rangel with his multiple rent controlled apartments and undisclosed income. Are there any signs of lobbying reform? Housing reform? Tort reform?

Many people like the idea of divided government, having one party serve as a check and balance on the other. If Obama is elected this November, with Pelosi and Reid in charge of the House and Senate, there will be a blank check and no balance in the White House.

Mr. Obama cannot point to any analogue to Mr. McCain's service. As he talks of himself, and his supporters talk about the amazing Obamaness of Obama, it is no wonder that millions of Americans, including loyal Democrats, still question whether his presidency would reinforce the splendor of Barack Obama rather than protect them and enhance their lives.

Obama Favors Driver's Licenses for Illegals

A "golden oldie" from the Democrat Primaries!

The National Republican Trust with an ad reminding us of some of Obama's radical views from early in the campaign cycle.

Obama: Oppose at Your Own Risk!

Just the latest in what has become a rather disturbing trend: If you oppose Barack Obama, the thug squads will come for you!

"Joe the Plumber" asked Obama a tough question about his tax policy. Every bit of "dirty laundry" about Joe Wurzelbacher from his tax liens to his license status has been "plumbed" by an Obama friendly media. Beware the wrath of Barack!

Back in August: Members of Barack Obama’s campaign HQ in Chicago tried to shut down a local radio show on the City's most powerful radio signal, WGN 720, because they didn't like a conservative guest that was on going on the air to discuss Senator Barack Obama's ties to local terrorist William Ayers.

Similar attacks last September by Obama's Action Wire on radio stations that aired an author, Jerome Corsi, who had written a book critical of Obama, The Obama Nation.

Also last September: CBS affiliate Channel 4 TV News in St. Louis reported that some Missouri sheriffs and prosecutors have formed a truth squad to target anyone who engages in misleading ad or statements about Senator Obama.

Or Obama seeking to prosecute anyone concerned about voter fraud? Barack Obama's campaign attorney today asked Attorney General Michael Mukasey to add a probe into allegedly false Republican claims of voter fraud to the investigation into the firings of U.S. attorneys.

This is, I'm afraid, just scratching the surface of what Obama and his fellow travelers will do to acquire and hold onto power.

As Dennis Miller once said: It's not the color of his skin that bothers me. It's the thinness!

"Imaginary"

"What word will either side use to explain their loss after the election?"

In light of ACORN, the 200,000 erroneous voter registrations in Ohio, and disclaimers made earlier by the Obama campaign,

If Obama loses in November, he will blame the loss on imaginary racism.

If McCain loses, it will be because of imaginary voters.

Quote du jour

"Experience" is often just a fancy word for the mistakes that we belatedly realized we were making, only after the realities of the world made us pay a painful price for being wrong.

Those who are insulated from that pain — whether by being born into affluence or wealth, or shielded by the welfare state, or insulated by tenure in academia or in the federal judiciary — can remain in a state of perpetual immaturity.

"No choice for you!"

In a discussion about vouchers in Washington DC, Obama shows his true colors: He is diametrically opposed to vouchers, mostly because he is becholden to the teacher's union more than the future of America's youth.

No choice for you!

Private Barney F. Hajiro

Citation:
Private Barney F. Hajiro distinguished himself by extraordinary heroism in action on 19, 22, and 29 October 1944, in the vicinity of Bruyeres and Biffontaine, eastern France. Private Hajiro, while acting as a sentry on top of an embankment on 19 October 1944, in the vicinity of Bruyeres, France, rendered assistance to allied troops attacking a house 200 yards away by exposing himself to enemy fire and directing fire at an enemy strong point. He assisted the unit on his right by firing his automatic rifle and killing or wounding two enemy snipers. On 22 October 1944, he and one comrade took up an outpost security position about 50 yards to the right front of their platoon, concealed themselves, and ambushed an 18-man, heavily armed, enemy patrol, killing two, wounding one, and taking the remainder as prisoners. On 29 October 1944, in a wooded area in the vicinity of Biffontaine, France, Private Hajiro initiated an attack up the slope of a hill referred to as "Suicide Hill" by running forward approximately 100 yards under fire. He then advanced ahead of his comrades about 10 yards, drawing fire and spotting camouflaged machine gun nests. He fearlessly met fire with fire and single-handedly destroyed two machine gun nests and killed two enemy snipers. As a result of Private Hajiro’s heroic actions, the attack was successful. Private Hajiro’s extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon him, his unit, and the United States Army.

Private Hajiro: We humbly salute you and thank you for your service.

Daily Kos: "Crush Their Spirits"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Kos has delusions of adequacy.

Have you ever been flailed at by a two year old? Some little urchin comes at you, waving its tiny arms with all its might, and you try to figure out how to restrain it until it tires, or loses interest...
I have much the same feeling reading this piece by the head Kossack, Markos Moulitsas :

I've been making the case the last couple of weeks that we can't just focus on winning in November, but that we have an imperative to take advantage of a historic opportunity to break the conservative movement's backs and crush their spirits.

"Crush their spirits"? Dude! Get over yourself! Even if worst came to worst and the Obamunist were to eke out a win this November, the hearts and minds of the Conservative movement will not be deterred by a momentary setback. Let me announce in advance, that no matter who wins the Presidency in November, my spirit shall emerge uncrushed! Heh.

A key component of this effort is to destroy their most beloved leaders.
Note the language: "destroy". Not "defeat". Not "beat". Destroy.
The party of the Democrats has long been the home for the Politics of Personal Destruction. Candidate Obama would not be where he is today, had he and his not torpedoed several primary and opposition candidates along the way.

So, this comes as no surprise, other than the rank stupidity of blurting out the truth for all to hear: The Politics of Personal Destruction, although nominally decried by the liberals is actively practiced.

So, take your best shot! Should Obama the Bamboozler bamboozle his way into the White House, the rest of the country is not just going to roll over and play dead. And if a Democrat President has a Democrat Congress to rubber stamp his ideas or vice versa, don't expect that middle America, who would have bought this pig in a poke, will fail to notice that as well.

Long term prediction: Kos: You're still headed for the dustbin of history. It just might take a little longer than previously planned.

"Spread the Wealth"

Hmm, let me see now...in order to "spread" the wealth, you must take it from one according to his ability and "spread" it according to his needs?

That idea. Where have I heard that idea?

Our hearts where they rocked our cradle,
Our love where we spent our toil,

We pledge to our native soil.

Ordained for each one spot should prove
Beloved over all.

"Baracky and his Friends"

Recently, there was a small tempest in a teapot over a small minded individual at Say Anything, who posted a tasteless picture of Barack Obama and a hangman's noose- a thinly veiled death threat masquerading as free speech.

I want to go on the record as saying that not only I, but all the conservatives I know, would not threaten the life of someone with whom we disagreed. If our ideas are superior to theirs, then we only need to expose them to reason and the light of day to prevail. Far better to heap pity, ridicule and scorn upon them than threats or ill will.

To that end, rather than picture "A Noose and Barack", I would offer "Baracky and Bullshipper" instead of "Noose and Squirrel":
