Chelsea Manning, The Musical

(with apologies to Joni Mitchell)

Woke up, it was a Chelsea Manning, and the first thing that I heard

Was her campaign run for Senate. This little weasel is absurd.

She was court-martialed for spying, flipped the USA the bird!

Oh, won't you say you'll just go away

Utter not another word!

Woke up, it was a Chelsea Manning, and the first thing that I saw

Was a Tweet she wrote "F*ck the police", and that was the last straw.

She's a Democrat, imagine that!

She's known to break the law.

Don't get me wrong, his junk is all gone

And his tits are made of plastic!

Woke up, it was a Chelsea Manning, and the last thing that we need

is this freak inside the Senate passing laws and smoking weed.

But she's running inside Maryland, that state has gone to seed.

In Baltimore, you all know the score

It's the murders and the greed!

The Ghost of Trayvon Martin Takes a Knee

Halloween is approaching and the stores are filling with candy, skeletons, and not a few ghosts. One specter once again raising its ugly head, is the ghost of Trayvon Martin.
In addition to the Take a Knee controversy, or complementary to it, four NFL players have submitted a ten page memo...manifesto, if you will, to Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner. to address
the silence following our individual and collective demonstrations around the national anthem to raise awareness to racial inequality and issues surrounding criminal justice reform has been met with inconsistencies in press coverage and perceived lack of support.
(emphasis mine)"The silence". That means, we not only want to disrespect the flag, the anthem and the US, but we want you to endorse us for doing so. "Criminal justice reform"?  Are they suggesting better communication between NFL players and their parole officers? There most certainly is racial inequality in the NFL. The percentage of black players far surpasses the percentage of blacks in the general population. Is that what they're talking about??

But, let's examine the basis for their call for a month dedicated to their particular vision of social justice awareness..."like breast cancer"! Oh, and pony up some dough to make this kabuki theater work.
You have to admire the chutzpah of a bunch of millionaires going hat in hand to NFL management to finance those things they feel deeply about, just not deeply enough to pay for it out of their own pockets.
But, what sparked the outrage?
Since 2016, police have shot over 300 men and women in this country. Some of the names and stories are familiar...Trayvon Martin...
Uh, excuse me, but Trayvon wasn't shot by a police officer, despite how often his ghost pops up in conversations about Black Lives Mattering.

We have some newer statistics, via the Washington Post:
721 fatal police shootings in U S so far in 2017
32 unarmed - 4.4%
9 unarmed black men - 1.2%
For the math impaired (and you liberals know who you are), 721 is greater than 300.  As to the myth that police regular shoot unarmed black men, it appears that sightly over 1% of fatal police shootings involve unarmed black men, and unarmed men other than black, are shot three times as often.

But the memo goes on to detail many "reforms" they want to see in many of arrests and bail. Could they have a vested interest in the matter? According to NFLarrest.com, an NFL player is arrested on an average of every seven days. Granted this is lower than the US arrest rate for men of their demographic, but still quite a lot. Enough to make me wonder just how altruistic this "movement" is. "DUI's" seem to be most prevalent, and if they occurred at at once, NFL players with DUIs could fill a small stadium all by themselves!

But back to Trayvon, and the Left's fixation on him. You remember Trayvon?? Twelve year old choir boy with a twinkle in his eye? Well, somewhere between the cherubic twelve year old and the thuggish, 5'11" seventeen year old, something went terribly wrong.
In October 2011, after a video surveillance camera caught Martin writing graffiti on a door, MDSPD Office Darryl Dunn searched Martin’s backpack, looking for the marker he had used. Officer Dunn found 12 pieces of women’s jewelry and a man’s watch, along with a flathead screwdriver the officer described as a “burglary tool.” The jewelry and watch, which Martin claimed he had gotten from a friend he refused to name, matched a description of items stolen during the October 2011 burglary of a house... about a half-mile from the school.
Now why, you may ask , am I dredging up this young thug's sordid history? Can't we just let sleeping, er, dead dogs lie?

Apparently not. The name of Trayvon Martin, who was definitely not shot by a white cop or a black cop, or any cop at all, is repeatedly evoked at the top of the list of victimhood by Black Lives Matter types, along with the brutal bully who was shot resisting arrest, Michael Brown.

It is the modus operandi of the Left, that whenever they want to exaggerate how bad a problem is, they pad their statistics to make it look worse. The NFL players include Trayvon in their list of grievances, because if they limited themselves to actual grievances or even current grievances (Trayvon was killed in 2012), their evidence would be pretty thin.

I suspect the ghost of Travon will be with us for a long time, so long as intellectually dishonest race baiters struggle for ways to justify their left of center agendas. This includes the 'Take a Knee' crowd.

Racial Tension After Eight Years of Obama

From a comment on a post at Political Clown Parade

When the Obama administration started, the Justice department refused to punish individuals guilty of voter intimidation because of the color of their skin.

He publicly stated that the Cambridge Police "acted stupidly" in a minor police matter, because of the color of the skin of the individual affected.

He inserted himself on the self defense of George Zimmerman against Trayvon Martin, because of the color of his skin, in a manner he never made when the victims were white. Kate Steinle comes to mind.

He sent a delegation from the White House to the funeral of a dead thug in Ferguson MO, who resisted arrest after robbing a convenience store, because of the color of his skin.

He stated his belief that there was institutional racism in police departments nationwide, and repeated this canard every time a black person would shoot policemen because of the color of their skin.

Obama has thrown more gasoline on the fire of race relations than any politician in the last forty to fifty years. That and his apologia for Islamic terrorists will be his legacy.

The "Epidemic" of Blacks Murdered by Cops in America

...according to Mooooove On.
"The murders of Black men & women by police is an epidemic in America that we have failed to address as a country..." -Jo Comerford
An "epidemic"??
adjective
1. affecting many persons at the same time, and spreading from person to person in a locality where the disease is not permanently prevalent.
2. extremely prevalent; widespread.
noun
3.a temporary prevalence of a disease.
4.a rapid spread or increase in the occurrence of something

Many persons...spreading rapidly from person to person...really? You know it's not an epidemic. I know it's not an epidemic. You know who else doesn't think it's an epidemic? Jesse Jackson.. Jesse Jackson was on TV last night reciting all the black people shot by racist cops, and he cites...Trayvon Martin. Trayvon Martin??

Several things wrong with this. One, George Zimmerman was not a cop, he was a civilian. Two, despite press reports trying to portray him as a "white Hispanic", George Zimmerman is not white. Three, it was determined to be self defense. And four, if there is such an epidemic of white cops shooting black men and women, how desperate would you have to be to reach back over four years to get an example? After all, an epidemic affects "many persons". Why not cite one of the 'many' recent examples??

Before we move on, just a little trip down memory lane to the thug the media tried to portray as a 12 year old choirboy:

In October 2011, after a video surveillance camera caught Martin writing graffiti on a door, MDSPD Officer Darryl Dunn searched Martin’s backpack, looking for the marker he had used. Officer Dunn found 12 pieces of women’s jewelry and a man’s watch, along with a flathead screwdriver the officer described as a “burglary tool.” The jewelry and watch, which Martin claimed he had gotten from a friend he refused to name, matched a description of items stolen during the October 2011 burglary of a house on 204th Terrace, about a half-mile from the school. However, because of Chief Hurley’s policy “to lower the arrest rates,” as one MDSPD sergeant said in an internal investigation, the stolen jewerly was instead listed as “found property” and was never reported to Miami-Dade Police who were investigating the burglary.

The school suspended him, but they should have reported him to the police. Had his crimes caught up with him then, maybe he would have been in custody instead of wandering around houses late at night looking for a place to rob on his way to the store to buy Skittles.

Who else is in this parade of blacks shot by white cops? Michael Brown. Yes, that paragon of virtue who robbed a convenience store, roughing up the shopkeeper on his way out the door, moments before he was confronted by police. I happened to see a few minutes of a "very special" edition of 48 Hours on CBS where they showed a beaming Michael Brown in his high school cap and gown. Really? The phrase "Hands up, don't shoot" originated in the aftermath of the Brown shooting, after a witness lied about Brown not resisting arrest.
Physical and forensic evidence in fact contradict claims by witnesses who have maintained that Brown had his hands up, above his waist when Wilson shot him, the Justice Department concluded.
So, "racist cop"? Or "Cop shoots thug attacking him, tried to wrestle his gun away from him"?

Self defense -2, Racist epidemic of white cops shooting blacks - 0 BTW, this part of the "epidemic" took place nearly two years ago.

More recently we have Philando Castile, supposedly shot by another racist white cop, another individual we in the real world call "Hispanic", while his cold blooded girlfriend took video and posted the incident to Facebook. The only video I've seen that she took was after the shooting, and not at all probative in proving guilt or innocence. We do get her (prejudiced) description of what had just happened. Yeah, like Brown's sidekick at the convenience store robbery said that Brown had his hands up saying 'don't shoot'. Color me skeptical.
"I'm going to stop a car," one of the officers calmly begins, according to copies of radio transmissions obtained by KARE-11, an NBC affiliate in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Moments later, the officer reports that his reason to pull the car over was that "the two occupants just look like people that were involved in a robbery."
If the officer suspected the driver of an armed robbery, he would have approached the car with his weapon drawn, regardless of the race of the suspect. The girlfriend stated that Castile told the officer he had a permit for the gun, although no evidence of this has been presented. The weapon was apparently visible on the front seat, which would be a felony if the gun were loaded and Castile did not have a CCW.

My advice to you, regardless of your race, is that if a police officer ever approaches you with his gun drawn, that you move very slowly or not at all if instructed to do so. Castile was a black man, but the evidence of racial motivation in this case has yet to be proven, if at all.

Justified shootings -3, Racist epidemic of white cops shooting blacks - 0

Another "death by cop" that some like to throw into the mix is poor Eric Garner. Garner was an overweight individual (350 lbs.) who was the double victim of liberalism. Garner, you'll remember, was arrested outside a store selling "loosies", single cigarettes, for which he was not dutifully collecting the taxes.
New York City boasts the highest cost for cigarettes in the nation, with a pack ranging anywhere from $12 and up. The city lays its own taxes on top of the state’s, in an effort both to raise revenue and discourage use of tobacco.
Garner was selling individual cigarette to folks who might not be able to afford an entire pack, much less a carton. Garner filled the demand for selling a more affordable product. But, here's where the double victimization comes in: City Hall decided that they needed to make an example of these scofflaws who were denying the city coffers of their taxes, and directed that police step up enforcement of the law prohibiting the sale of "loosies". But it wasn't racial. Eric Garner had "three misdemeanor cases pending in Stapleton Criminal Court. He was free on $2,000 bail."

At the time of his arrest, there was a black policewoman sergeant on the scene overseeing the arrest of Garner. You can argue that the law was unjust, or that the enforcement effort was misplaced, but the proximate cause of Eric Garner's death was Eric Garner resisting arrest. Has he chosen to present his arms for the cuffs and slipped docilely into the back of the squad car or wagon, he would have lived to suck down another Twinkie. I am not unsympathetic to Mr. Garner. He did not expect to die resisting arrest, the men subduing him did not expect to kill him. He may have been outraged for being arrested yet again for trying to make or supplement his living, but it's generally not a good idea to resist arrest. Bad things happen regardless of race.

Another cause célèbre of the racist cops killing blacks is Freddie Gray, a black man who suffered a fatal injury in police custody. He was not shot by police. The man who drove the van that transported him was a black man. And so far, every attempt to criminalize the actions of the officers who arrested and transported Gray has resulted in either an acquittal or a dismissal of charges. No racism proven. Whatsoever.

I haven't mentioned Alton Sterling. On the surface it may look bad, but then, so did most of the cases mentioned above, when described by race baiters with a general disregard of the truth. I will reserve judgement on the Sterling case, and the ultimate resolution of the Castile case, until all the facts have come out and any punishment deserved is meted out, up to and including the death penalty.

But to build a narrative of racial division and hatred, such as has plainly inspired the racially motivated shooting in Dallas is unconscionable. I have often stated that there is a special circle in Hell for those who falsely accuse people of racism. They will have the advantage of looking down on those who sow racial hatred, discord and violence based on nothing but lies.

Non-racially motivated deaths -5, Racist epidemic of white cops shooting blacks - 0.  Jury still out -1.

There were a few other cases I omitted because of the length of the piece. At least one, I believed to be justified, One was based on no evidence whatsoever and a third was inconclusive. But add them all up and take away the benefit of the doubt on all of them and you have maybe ten, twelve deaths over four years? In a country of over three hundred million people, that's hardly an "epidemic".

Maybe tomorrow we'll focus on the "epidemic" of blacks shooting white cops? /sarc

What Hath Our Post-Racial President Wroth?

There was a thread on Disqus on another site, Bernie Sanders Says White People Don’t Know What It’s Like to be Poor. I commented:
I cannot count all the times a liberal has told me there were more whites on welfare than blacks. Apparently, Bernie didn't get the memo!

I did not feel I needed to go into all the statistical minutia that, of course, there are a higher percentage of whites than black in the country, and the raw numbers of welfare recipients was likely to skew one way, and then a breakdown of those numbers by race, according to their percentage of the population could well show another. Fine.

A person, whom I shall not name, to spare her the embarrassment, (but will note she had the face of Bernie Sanders on her avatar), responded to my comment with this:
there are more whites than blacks on welfare in this country. the difference is that the blacks are genuinely poverty stricken whereas a good percentage of the whites are just lazy asshats with a sense of entitlement who believe they deserve to be semi-supported by the federal government

My response:
And the basis for your own assumption, that whites are in poverty, but blacks are in "poverty poverty"* is what exactly? I don't know that I've ever heard a more racist way to describe the situation, that blacks, unlike other people, who can be governed by greed or avarice or a sense of entitlement, only seek out government assistance when they are in abject poverty, unlike a "good percentage" of whites who are just "lazy asshats". I personally believe that goodness or lazy asshattedness is not dependent on race, color or creed.

Does this mean that the discovery of so much as a single black who is a "lazy asshat" disproves your theory? I say theory, because I doubt there is any legitimate study on the planet that agrees with your conclusions.

Would I be correct in assuming that you, too, are a liberal? Or does the Bernie face in your avatar mean you have shifted much, much farther to the left?

BTW, since Bernie Sanders spent most of his adult life on public assistance, before suckling on the government teat of politics, is he your exemplar of a white "lazy asshat"?
Just wondering.

*like "rape rape" (Thank you Whoopi Goldberg)

To me, the problem of poverty is irrevocably linked to illegitimacy. Back in the "good old days", before the Great Society, if a young woman, regardless of race, were to get pregnant, she typically had four choices:

A) Marry the baby's father (sometimes the presence of a shotgun was required here)

B) Get an abortion

C) Give the child up for adoption

D) Have the child and move back in with your parents, which was typically the only way a single mother caring for her child could economically live

In times and locales where abortion wasn't legal or available, she had three.

Enter the government (ta-daa!) Government assistance to single mothers could be a substitute for either marriage or living under your parent's rules. An unmarried woman could apply for assistance and subsist on checks from the government. By the way, we won't call them "asshats" if the "baby daddy", able to support his family, moves in without the benefit of marriage, but still collects the checks. Note, too, that nothing has been said about race. People game the system...black, white, red, chartreuse...all of them! Character crosses lines of race, color creed and ethnic origin.

Relatively stigma free, the government began to subsidize illegitimacy. As with anything else, whatever the government subsidizes, it gets more of. The poverty that accompanies illegitimacy is self perpetuating. Deprived of a two parent family, boys growing up without a strong male role model, without the stability of discipline, or someone to teach them a solid work ethic, drift into the fellowship of gangs and/or means of self support that don't include a nine to five job. Note, again, these things, too, are irrespective of race.

These values are transmitted culturally. Government subsidies, starting with the Great Society, have cultivated a culture of dependency, a culture of envy and despair, predominantly centered in the inner cities. Here's where the element of race is introduced. In urban America where there are large groups of blacks and racial minorities, we see higher rates of illegitimacy. NBC News noted that in 2008:
The black community's 72 percent rate eclipses that of most other groups: 17 percent of Asians, 29 percent of whites, 53 percent of Hispanics and 66 percent of Native Americans were born to unwed mothers in 2008

Walter Williams notes that it's even worse today and puts it in historic context.:
Today's black illegitimacy rate of nearly 75 percent is also entirely new. In 1940, black illegitimacy stood at 14 percent. It had risen to 25 percent by 1965, when Daniel Patrick Moynihan wrote "The Negro Family: The Case for National Action" and was widely condemned as a racist. By 1980, the black illegitimacy rate had more than doubled, to 56 percent, and it has been growing since. Both during slavery and as late as 1920, a teenage girl raising a child without a man present was rare among blacks.

In our pop culture, the terms "baby mama" and "baby daddy" are commonplace among celebrities. There once was a social stigma to both  "being on the dole" and having children "out of wedlock". These terms are now outdated and antiquated. The genie is out of the bottle. No sign that it;'s going back in anytime soon. Short of a revival on the scale of the Great Awakening, the cycle of illegitimacy, dependence and poverty will be with us for a long time.

In Defense of Samuel L. Jackson

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I like to think of myself as a pretty mainstream conservative. Other than, perhaps, my choice of a presidential candidate for 2016, I am used to my views being at least tangentially close to that of my fellow conservatives. That's why it's just a bit unsettling to be out here by my lonesome on this issue.

Consider poor Samuel L. Jackson. Okay, that was intentional. He's anything but poor. He could probably buy and sell me thirty times over, but he's catching an awful lot of flak for a comment he made that just doesn't seem all that terrible to me.
“When that thing happened in France, we were sitting there going, 'Oh, my God, these terrorists!' And I can't even tell you how much that day the thing that happened in San Bernardino — I was in Hawaii — how much I really wanted that to just be another, you know, crazy white dude, and not really some Muslims, because it's like: 'Oh, s**t. It's here. And it's here in another kind of way,'”

First of all, he was honest. A failing I suffer myself most of the time. And I can identify exactly with what he said. Before you assign a motive based on racial prejudice, think back to the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO. A black youth was shot in the street, apparently resisting arrest, but the identity (and race) of the police officer was not immediately revealed. I can very specifically remember thinking, "Man, I hope it was a black cop". Not because I wished any of the emotional trauma that so often accompanies even justified shootings, to be visited upon him, but because I did not want the race baiters and poverty pimps to turn what may have been (and was proven to be) a justifiable shooting into some occasion to stir up racial unrest.

I hoped it wasn't a white guy, because of the implications that would cause, not only in Ferguson, but nationwide. It was not racism on my part, but hoping there would be no cause for rioting.

If you are a pro-life conservative, you should be able to relate to this as well. Just recently there was a shooting incident in Colorado in and around a Planned Parenthood facility. Look me in the eye and tell me that it didn't at least go through your mind that you hoped that maybe the guy was a bank robber, chased into the PP, or "some crazy white dude" with no affiliation with any pro-life organizations whatsoever. You didn't want a righteous cause to be smeared by an unrighteous act.

It's honest. In today's culture, every shooting has been politicized to the extent that, before the bodies are cold, before any investigation has begun, some group is trying to cram this into their political agenda. If the San Bernadino shooters were some random "crazy white dudes", or even a gang shooting, then, terrorism has not come to the heartland. 'Oh, s**t. It's here.'

Has Samuel L. Jackson ever said anything else that colors your opinion of him? (Pun intended). I don't know. I'm saying that we can give the man the benefit of the doubt on this one. His was the honest expression of a regret that terrorism had come to the heartland, much like my desire was not to see racial strife in Ferguson, or yours was not to see pro-lifers smeared by one unstable individual.

From the stand point of those who did not want to see terrorists active in the homeland, can't you see that point of view? On the morning of 9/11/2001, as I was sitting at my desk, I heard that "a plane had hit the WTC". My first thought was that maybe some elderly pilot in a Cessna had had a heart attack and crashed into a building. I can assure you that, although I do not wish any harm to elderly pilots, of any race, I really wanted that plane crash to be some "old white dude", rather than a terrorist attack.

It wasn't that long ago, that some of you were quoting Mr. Jackson for his reasonable tone on gun control.
"I don't think it's about more gun control. I grew up in the South with guns everywhere and we never shot anyone. This [shooting] is about people who aren't taught the value of life."

I think we should cut Mr. Jackson some slack on this one. Just sayin'.

Doesn't Anyone Have a Sense of Shame Anymore?

If you were a white woman who just got caught lying about her race, her parents and who knows what all else, wouldn't you try to keep a low profile? Maybe slink away in shame?? Not Rachel Dolezal. Check out this Tweet:

Rosa Parks? Really?? Is this formerly blonde, white ditzy chick telling us that dipping into racial set asides by masquerading as someone of a different race is the same as being a black woman who was discriminated against in the '50s? Is she setting up some kind of insanity defense?

This poseur has chutzpah on steroids!
