Elly's Letter to the Editor

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Dear Letter to the Ed-itor: Hi, y'all! This here's Elly May Light, sittin' down by the concrete swimmin' hole, thinkin' about what a fine job that nice young man Barack Obama has been doin' in the White House. And the longer I'm sittin' and thinkin', I'm thinkin' I oughta say something on his be-half. (Because the way he's a goin', there'll only be half a country left purty durn quick!)

Now some of you Ed-itors (how'd y'all all come to be named "Ed" any ways?) may not think I read your fine paper every day. Well, I've been a subscriber ever since I moved to (insert name of city here)! So, as a local girl, I want my voice to be heard.

And just so you know, I've got a lot of sisters an' cousins an' aunts and all and we all have the same names. My pappy was so poor he couldn't pay attention, so he used a name he could remember real easy like! So, if'n they all gets the urge to write you, too, while they're sittin' next to their own concrete swimmin' holes, that is what they call a co-inky-dink in the big city! Because we all loves us some Obama!

Yes, we do.
We truly, dooley do.
(I'm not getting paid by the word or nothin', I just really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really like Mr. Barack Hussein Obama, the first black President of these here United States of America!)

So, thank you for your time. Please print my letter, so that I, like my hundreds of sisters an' cousins an' aunts and all, can tell you how we, each and every one of us, as separate and dis-tinked individuals, feel about Barack Obama.

Signed,
Elly May Light

D'oh-lbermann Loses Critical Demographic

The word of the day is "Schadenfreude"!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
...and getting worser!

According to Daily Finance:

Ratings for Olbermann's Countdown have been soft recently, and the 8 p.m. shows on CNN and HLN have narrowed the gap. In the important demographic of adults 25 to 54 -- the group advertisers are looking to reach -- Countdown was down 44% year-over-year in January. It averaged 268,000 viewers in that demo, only 3,000 more than Nancy Grace's show on HLN, and 12,000 more than CNN's Campbell Brown. Fox News's O'Reilly Factor dominated the hour with 964,000 viewers age 25 to 54, and was the only cable news show in the time period to increase its audience, by 55%.

So, Bill O'Reilly, whom the liberals hate, increased his audience 55% in the 25 to 54 demographic, to a size nearly four times that of the junk yard dog D'oh-lbermann, while D'oh-lbermann's audience dropped like sub zero temperatures at an Al Gore global warming conference? Sweet!

D'Oh-lbermann: "Arrogant" is a Code Word for a Racial Slur

I really hesitate to give this guy the time of day most days, because I fear that by publicizing his childish rants online, we actually double or triple his cable audience. But, race baiting morons seem to be my specialty of late, so with that in mind, I give you "Count dumb with Keith D'Oh-lbermann"

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

So, when Han Solo tells Luke "Don't get cocky", he was slinging a racial slur? And I had no idea that arrogance was strictly a racial characteristic! I think D'Oh-lbermann is a pretty arrogant POS. Does that mean I think he's black???

D'Oh-lbermann is a few fries short of a happy meal here. His attempt at race baiting will go unnoticed by all except the rabid moonbat Left (but both of those guys are already half his audience!). He cannot stand that not everyone gets a tingle up their leg like he and Chrissy do. If he were intellectually honest, he could admit that the individuals he criticized disagree with Obama on matters of policy, not race. But, if you are going to slander your opponents and attempt to assassinate their character, saying you merely disagree with them doesn't carry a lot of weight.

D'Oh-lbermann's attempts to name anyone as "Worst Person in the World, may just be projection on his part!

Note: I'm having trouble seeing this video on Firefox, both here and on Say Anything. IE has no problems at all. Do not blame your set!

The Keen Business Sense of Barack Hussein Obama

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Barack as business man. That's a scary thought, isn't it? If Barack had to actually go out and earn a living by the sweat of his brow, disconnected from the government teat? How would he do as a banker???

To make college more affordable, this bill will finally end the unwarranted taxpayer-subsidies that go to banks for student loans.
That's right. Weaselly, but right! With the government putting itself in charge of student loans, the money will no longer go to the bank, it will go straight down the rat hole!

And let's tell another one million students that when they graduate, they will be required to pay only ten percent of their income on student loans, and all of their debt will be forgiven after twenty years – and forgiven after ten years if they choose a career in public service.
Aside from being the Bureaucrat Employment Act of 2010, is it really a good idea to tell everyone that borrows from you, that if they don't pay you back in ten or twenty years that it's "no harm, no foul"? So the taxpayer subsidies that he hinted were a bad thing at the beginning of his speech are still there, there's just not some nasty bank in the way, insisting that people who take out loans should pay them back! Oh, yeah! That's change we can believe in!
Obama and the Democrats are big on asking how much any tax break is going to "cost", anybody figure out what the cost to the taxpayer is going to be in forgiving these loans? Anybody?? Beuller? Beuller??

That's not to say that banks don't write off a certain percentage of student loans. They build that into the interest rates as a cost of doing business. What Obama has done, aside from usurping authority over making these loans, is to remove the profit incentive from the process. Meanwhile, telling the people who receive the money that it's "Okay if you don't pay it all back"!

That's the spirit that built our country! /sarcasm

Sleep tight, America! The President who spends money like a drunken sailor to eliminate debt has got a handle on student loans!

We are so screwed!

The "Logic Tight" Boxes of Barack Obama

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Back before the Earth had cooled and I was going to college, I believe it was in a psychology course that I was first introduced to the concept of "logic tight boxes", where a person could hold two (or more) contradictory beliefs, so long as they were kept separate in the person's mind in "logic tight boxes", where they would never be examined at the same time by the same standards.
With that in mind, let us examine the words of Barack Obama from his SOTU speech. Barack on tax cuts:
Let me repeat: we cut taxes. We cut taxes for 95% of working families. We cut taxes for small businesses. We cut taxes for first-time homebuyers. We cut taxes for parents trying to care for their children. We cut taxes for 8 million Americans paying for college. As a result, millions of Americans had more to spend on gas, and food, and other necessities, all of which helped businesses keep more workers.

And you "paid for" these tax cuts, how exactly?
The plan that has made all of this possible, from the tax cuts to the jobs, is the Recovery Act. That's right – the Recovery Act, also known as the Stimulus Bill.

So, tax cuts are a good thing, right? Good enough to go into debt to "pay for" them, right? Let's ask Barack!
it's time to finally slash the tax breaks for companies that ship our jobs overseas and give those tax breaks to companies that create jobs in the United States of America.

Oh. So tax breaks can be either good or bad, depending on who is getting them? I see.

Please clarify your position, Mr. President!
So let me start the discussion of government spending by setting the record straight. At the beginning of the last decade, America had a budget surplus of over $200 billion. By the time I took office, we had a one year deficit of over $1 trillion and projected deficits of $8 trillion over the next decade. Most of this was the result of not paying for two wars, two tax cuts, and an expensive prescription drug program.

So, tax cuts are a bad thing? You said the stimulus paid for your tax cuts. How is "paying for" tax cuts with borrowed money any better than that which you (wrongly) criticize? Aren't you going to add: "As a result of these two tax cuts, millions of Americans had more to spend on gas, and food, and other necessities, all of which helped businesses keep more workers"?

Glad you cleared that up for us, Mr. President! When "clueless Joe" Obama says that "two tax cuts" added to the deficit, he demonstrates that he clearly does not know how the world works. He looks at a static model which says "why bother to sell a million widgets at a dollar a piece, when if you only sold one for a million dollars, you wouldn't need to sell any more"! People don't work that way! Raising taxes ten percent is not a guarantee of a ten percent increase in revenues, because people will change their activity based on negative stimuli. Raising taxes or eliminating tax cuts is a disincentive to productivity. Cutting the tax rate ten percent is more likely to create a ten percent or better increase in government revenues, because people have an incentive to keep more of what they earn. When people get to keep more of their own money, it is an incentive for them to do more, not less. Tax rate cuts have historically raised revenues to the government by increasing the volume of activity.
Whether or not Obama is truly clueless or just wants to promote an agenda of class hatred (post racial, my arse!) he certainly gets it wrong. with disastrous consequences for the nation.

The Medal of Honor

Sergeant Peter C. Lemon

Citation:

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. Sgt. Lemon (then Sp4c.), Company E, distinguished himself while serving as an assistant machine gunner during the defense of Fire Support Base Illingworth. When the base came under heavy enemy attack, Sgt. Lemon engaged a numerically superior enemy with machinegun and rifle fire from his defensive position until both weapons malfunctioned. He then used hand grenades to fend off the intensified enemy attack launched in his direction. After eliminating all but 1 of the enemy soldiers in the immediate vicinity, he pursued and disposed of the remaining soldier in hand-to-hand combat. Despite fragment wounds from an exploding grenade, Sgt. Lemon regained his position, carried a more seriously wounded comrade to an aid station, and, as he returned, was wounded a second time by enemy fire. Disregarding his personal injuries, he moved to his position through a hail of small arms and grenade fire. Sgt. Lemon immediately realized that the defensive sector was in danger of being overrun by the enemy and unhesitatingly assaulted the enemy soldiers by throwing hand grenades and engaging in hand-to-hand combat. He was wounded yet a third time, but his determined efforts successfully drove the enemy from the position. Securing an operable machinegun, Sgt. Lemon stood atop an embankment fully exposed to enemy fire, and placed effective fire upon the enemy until he collapsed from his multiple wounds and exhaustion. After regaining consciousness at the aid station, he refused medical evacuation until his more seriously wounded comrades had been evacuated. Sgt. Lemon's gallantry and extraordinary heroism, are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit on him, his unit, and the U.S. Army.

Sgt. Lemon: We humbly salute you and thank you for your service.

The nurse is ready to see you now!

Note to political junkies: There's really nothing to see here!

I have formulated a simple rule of thumb by which guys go to the hospital or see a doctor:

Rule #1: Uncontrollable bleeding. If you can't get the bleeding to stop, it's like that oil spot on your driveway. One or two drops, occasionally, you can put up with, but if it pours out and starts to puddle, you know that there aren't that many quarts in the crankcase!

Rule #2: Bones protruding from your skin.
These can be unsightly and often accompanied by Rule #1.

Rule #3: Prolonged or sudden unconsciousness. Technically, this is a rule your buddies have to observe for you, because, well...you're unconscious!

That's it! Pretty much all the reasons right there. So, awakening this morning feeling like death warmed over, preceded by flu-like symptoms the night before, led me to believe I might have the flu. And since I dutifully got my flu shot at the beginning of the season, while it is not 100% effective, this leads me to believe this could be H1N1, or "Swine flu". (See **)

And though ravaged by the flu (that's going to be the excuse*** for any errors in today's blog posts or comments), I still managed to drag my self to a keyboard (okay! thanks to WiFi, it was a laptop in bed this AM, 'til the battery went dead!) and attempt to post the best stuff I could think of and find. (See ***)

This may be my most footnoted missive in the short history of Proof Positive (coming up on two years, now! ****)

*Ger.: "My struggle". Note to the semi-literate: It is also not short for "kampfpaign". I am a bit curious as to what "Mein Kampf" in the title will produce in the way of Google searches...Sorry!
**H1N1? I was a doctor in a play once. This entitles me to dispense free medical advice and give physicals to fair members of the opposite sex. The only way I could know for sure if this was H1N1 would be to actually see a doctor! (See rules 1-3)
***The flu. Remember???

"Ellie Light" Exposed

Warning: it's not pretty! You can thank Saberpoint for this one!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

He also adds:
Ellie is the daughter of Turnoutda and Flickeringporch Light, of Laymebrayne, New York. She has an older brother, Bud, and a younger brother, Flash.

Her hobbies include scaring children, making excuses for Obama's incompetence, and traveling about the country writing letters to newspapers.
Heh. He also has a rebuttal to "Ellie Light's" original letter here.

On a serious note, The Cleveland Plain Dealer had this:
Ellie Light, the ubiquitous letter writer whose name appeared in newspapers nationwide praising President Barack Obama, appears to really be a male health care worker from California.

A man who identified himself as Winston Steward, 51, of Frazier Park, Calif., says he made up the name "Ellie Light" to protect himself from criticism and possible physical attacks, and used fake addresses across the country to get local newspapers to publish his letters.

So, Ellie is a dude??? (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)

"I am Winston Steward and have been sending the letters from Ellie Light," he told The Plain Dealer in an e-mail late Tuesday, following a phone interview in which he said the same. "I hope this ends any confusion and sets the record straight."
Oh, yeah! There's absolutely no confusion as to why some guy would claim to be a woman who lived in dozens of places around the country just so that he could bleat out the same one note about Obama the Transparent and how wonderful he was! /sarcasm

And something I did not know about California law, but have no problem with:
The name "Ellie Light" appeared with letters that ran in newspapers in multiple states, including California -- where state law makes it a misdemeanor to sign and send "any letter addressed to a newspaper with the name of a person other than himself."
An anti-sockpuppet law! Who'da thunk it?

Saberpoint once again:
"Ellie Light" is merely the pseudonym for a group of Democratic operatives trying to spread propaganda and make it look like "grass roots" opinion. It is false, but it is useful in one regard: it demonstrates so well the falsity and the cynicism of those who manipulate public opinion through falsehood and fraud.

There is at least circumstantial evidence to suggest that "Ellie" was not the work of a lone crank, but an orchestrated effort by ham-handed flaks to generate "astro-turf". For instance: the "Ellie Light" that wrote Say Anything had a different IP address than the one that wrote Ed Morrissey.
The twitter contacts and followers seem to suggest that this guy Winston is connected to flaks paid by the White House.

If "Captain Combover" wanted to take out an ad in the New York Times and say "Rah, rah, we love Obama!", there's nothing wrong with that. But this stealth campaign of trying to influence people through deceit and false populism is abhorrent to the idea of a democrat Republic with an informed electorate. It is manipulation of the crassest kind.

Thanks to Riehl World View, Patterico's Pontifications, and Left Coast Rebel for their work in uncovering this dishonest, anti-transparency of the "O'Comma" administration.

Krauthammer on Obama's "Freeze"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It's not a hatchet. It's not a scalpel.* It's a Q-tip. It's a fraud. This is a miniscule amount. It excludes Defense, Homeland Security, Veterans Affairs. It excludes all the entitlements, which are 60 percent of the budget. It excludes stimuli past and future — the two thirds of the near trillion-dollar stimulus that has not been spent. All of that is excluded.
It excludes the $1 trillion that would end up being spent on health care if it were passed.

Compounded by the fact that if Obama loses in 2012, this three year "freeze" becomes null and void after one.

What it is, is a $15 billion reduction in a year, 2011, in which the CBO has just announced we are going to have a deficit of $1.35 trillion, which means it is — it's a rounding error, it's lunch money. . . .

This isn't a real cut. It's an appearance of cuts. It's a maneuver as a response to what happened in Massachusetts because he lost the independents – Obama – 3-1, and he knows independents worry about debt and deficits and spending. . . .

So he announces a freeze which is meaningless. Remember, these departments enjoyed a 20 percent increase in budget as a result of what Obama and the Democrats had done in 2009. So you are freezing [discretionary spending] at an extraordinarily high and unusual [level].

I'm also told that the cost of the surge in the Middle East is also factored in there, which is a cost that will not be incurred every year for the next three years. Plus, it is not an across the board "freeze", so it will be business as usual for most of government. The only thing this is an attempt to "freeze" is criticism of the reckless spending of this administration!

*Updated: Apparently, on the campaign trail Obama said:
"It sounds good. In fact, an across-the-board spending freeze is a hatchet, and we do need the scalpel, because there are some programs that don't work at all. Some programs are underfunded. And I want to make sure we are focused on the programs that work."

Sockpuppets for Obama, The Update

It seems that poor "Ellie" after having been caught in "her" tissues of lies, scrambles to try to salvage what's left of her credibility. "She" fails. In a letter to the Cleveland Plain Dealer that outed "her", she writes in part:

"But what I want to point out is that, if I were a person trying to imply this huge groundswell of support for our beleaguered president, then I would have signed the letter with different names."

Nice bit of misdirection! The fact is that "Ellie" signed all of "her" letters with different places she claimed to live was clearly an attempt to create a "groundswell" across the country.
I find it instructive that caught in massive lies, "she" continues to spin, as if he/she/or it had any credibility whatsoever.

Sockpuppets for Obama

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
There's been a bit of stir over someone calling himself/herself/itself "Ellie Light". I thought perhaps, it was just an overzealous O-bot, spamming for "The One", so I didn't get too excited, other than to note the dishonesty of the effort.
News Real notes, however, that the IP address on "Ellie" tracks to...Saudi Arabia??? WTF?

Riehl World View has more details:
If information I've been given is correct, there is circumstantial evidence linking now infamous letter writer Ellie Light to an international public relations firm involved with the White House in helping to promote health care reform.

Left Coast Rebel made me aware of a comment left on his blog by someone claiming to be Ellie Light. The comment was left by someone using the screen name Winston44. In searching out that name, I found a Twitter account under it that has barely been used.

The account has never tweeted and follows 18 individuals, with 9 following it. Given that we usually add people we know when we first open a Twitter account, I looked to see who the first individual was that Winston44 added. That would be Adam Segal.

Adam J. Segal, President, The 2050 Group, LLC + Named to PR Week's 40 Under 40 for 2009.

The inimitable Robert Stacy McCain calls "Ellie" a "Nasty Slut" and a "dirty, rotten, syphilitic whore" and invites "her" to sue him! Heh.

This does not appear to be the work of an amateur. This seems to be orchestrated by professionals, people working directly for the White House. The fact that they were incompetent enough to get caught does not change the fact that the White House should denounce such dishonesty and do a little house cleaning so that deceit and trickery are not the keystones of Obama's "transparent" and Nancy Pelosi's "most ethical" administration in history.

Obama Contemplates His Economic Recovery Plan

This is really the look I was going for when I identified "Separated at Birth".

Separated at Birth?

As Obama's State of the Union speech approaches, I wondered how the loss in Massachusetts might influence him to try to get ahead of the "tea party" movement. Then I found* this picture:

This guy was so dumb that his friends always made him put on Green Bay Packers headgear, that they called the "Stupid Helmet", because they figured if this guy got any more brain damaged, he'd probably wind up a vegetable. This just in:

J.D. Hayworth Running to Unseat McCain

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

J.D. Hayworth, former Arizona Congressman is planning to run against John McCain.

Republican Hayworth stepped down as host of his conservative radio talk show on KFYI-AM in Phoenix. Legally, he could not host the program and be an active candidate.

Hayworth had been ousted from his Congressional seat in 2006 and had hosted the radio show for the past few years.

"We will formally announce at a later time, but we're moving forward to challenge John McCain. I think we all respect John. I think his place in history is secure. But after close to a quarter-century in Washington, it's time for him to come home."

He said a recent "outpouring of support" from Arizonans who had asked him to run changed his mind.

"Arizonans have a clear choice -- a clear, commonsense, consistent conservative, or they can remain with a moderate who calls himself a maverick."

Could this be a continuation of the conservative revolution?

Quote du jour

A year ago after the Obama victory and the sweep in the House and Senate, we were hearing about the great realignment, the death of conservatism, [how] the Republicans were in the wilderness, how this is going to be a generational thing.

It lasted not a generation but maybe eight or nine months. And what you see here is the tip of the iceberg. You've got a Democrat in [Alabama] in a seat that has been Democratic since 1866 switching. He knows what is happening now.

Carly Fiorina in Her Own Words

After such a great win in Massachusetts, most of us are turning our thoughts to our own states to roll up our sleeves and do what we need to do this fall to keep the momentum going. Here in California, one of the wannabee players is Carly Fiorina, former Hewlitt Packard CEO and candidate for Senate. She seems to be trying hard to limit access to the things she says on the campaign trail

Red State has a couple of audio clips that escaped:

Of the three people running for the Republican nomination, Ms. Fiorina seems to be the least conservative. If Republicans in California fail to coalesce behind a single candidate soon, the blood letting may contribute to the continued dominance of Democrats in the Golden State.

Air America Goes Belly Up

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A moment of Schadenfreude, please!

Air America, the radio network founded to be a progressive alternative to conservative talk radio, announced today that it is ceasing live programming operations immediately.

The company, which cited a "very difficult economic environment," will file under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code, according to a statement on its Web site.

Air America launched in April of 2004, and Sen. Al Franken and Rachel Maddow have been among its hosts.

I'd ask for a moment of silence, but Air America is providing plenty of that, wholesale! Heh.

Update: Via Jonah Goldberg on The Corner:
Since last summer, Air America has been heard in the Washington area on WZAA (1050 AM). Its audience has been so small that Arbitron, which compiles radio ratings, was unable to detect any listeners for WZAA during several weeks in December.

That's in Washington.

Scott Brown's Victory Speech

Here's a quote from Scott's speech:

"Our tax dollars should go to weapons to defeat [terrorists] not lawyers to
defend them."

And it should be noted that Brown is also an attorney.

"Raising taxes, taking over health care and giving new rights to terrorists
is the wrong agenda for our country."

Time will tell, but overall it looks like a net gain for the nation!

Reason #492 That Scott Brown Won in Massachusetts

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

In a related story:

"Drunken Sailors join class action suit to have their name removed from

The Democrats are Revolting

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

...in both senses of the word!

re⋅volt⋅ing

 /rɪˈvoʊltɪŋ/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [ri-vohl-ting]
–adjective
1. disgusting; repulsive: a revolting sight.
2. rebellious.

Definition one is for the leadership. Obama, Reid, Pelosi, et. al have made promises of an ethical and transparent government. They took a recession which by most estimates would have self corrected in six months, spent trillions of borrowed money on pork and turned the economy into a financial disaster which may take years to recover. Here's was Democrat and Obama voter Mort Zuckerman had to say about it:

In the campaign, he said he would change politics as usual. He did change them. It’s now worse than it was. I’ve now seen the kind of buying off of politicians that I’ve never seen before. It’s politically corrupt and it’s starting at the top. It’s revolting.

Definition two was demonstrated in Massachusetts on Tuesday. Scott Brown would have never been elected, except for the votes of many rank and file Democrats. Some lifelong Democrats. Some Kennedy Democrats. A large percentage of which rebelled against the Democratic machine's business as usual. They rebelled against being taken for granted by a party that assumed that anyone who could snag the nomination (in this case by scheming and jockeying for the nomination long before Ted Kennedy had even assumed room temperature) would be coronated in due time.

The people of Massachusetts did not want the government juggernaut to continue unabated. The folk who had swallowed GM and Chrysler and every student loan were about to swallow 1/6 of the nation's economy and nationalize the health care system, which, for all its flaws is still the best in the world. The people of Taxachusetts knew how to put a stop to it. They revolted. They elected a Republican.

There have been some, whistling past the graveyard, who try to assert that Brown is a "RINO" and thus, still a liberal. If this were true, given the choice between "Democrat" and "Democrat lite", why would any Democrat cast a vote that would deny their own party the vote that kept their Senate majority filibuster proof?

Scott Brown's election is in his own words, bigger than just opposing Obama. It's about making government more responsive to its citizens. This is a rare opportunity for Republicans. If only they don't blow it. Again.

The Medal of Honor

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Major Howard V. Lee

Citation:

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. A platoon of Maj. (then Capt.) Lee's company, while on an operation deep in enemy territory, was attacked and surrounded by a large Vietnamese force. Realizing that the unit had suffered numerous casualties, depriving it of effective leadership, and fully aware that the platoon was even then under heavy attack by the enemy, Maj Lee took 7 men and proceeded by helicopter to reinforce the beleaguered platoon. Maj. Lee disembarked from the helicopter with 2 of his men and, braving withering enemy fire, led them into the perimeter, where he fearlessly moved from position to position, directing and encouraging the overtaxed troops. The enemy then launched a massive attack with the full might of their forces. Although painfully wounded by fragments from an enemy grenade in several areas of his body, including his eye, Maj. Lee continued undauntedly throughout the night to direct the valiant defense, coordinate supporting fire, and apprise higher headquarters of the plight of the platoon. The next morning he collapsed from his wounds and was forced to relinquish command. However the small band of marines had held their position and repeatedly fought off many vicious enemy attacks for a grueling 6 hours until their evacuation was effected the following morning. Maj. Lee's actions saved his men from capture, minimized the loss of lives, and dealt the enemy a severe defeat. His indomitable fighting spirit, superb leadership, and great personal valor in the face of tremendous odds, reflect great credit upon himself and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the U.S. Naval Service.

Major Lee: We humbly salute you and thank you for your service.

Quote du jour

Tomorrow (today) marks the anniversary of President Obama's Inaugural, and it's worth recalling the extraordinary political opportunity he had a year ago. An anxious country was looking for leadership amid a recession, and Democrats had huge majorities and faced a dispirited, unpopular GOP. With monetary policy stimulus already flowing, Democrats were poised to get the political credit for the inevitable economic recovery.

Twelve months later, Mr. Obama's approval rating has fallen further and faster than any recent President's, Congress is despised, the public mood has shifted sharply to the right on the role of government, and a Republican could pick up a Senate seat in a state with no GOP Members of Congress and that Mr. Obama carried by 26 points.

"The Scott Heard 'Round the World!"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Well, it looks like it's all over but the shouting! Scott Brown has defeated Martha Coakley for the office of US Senator from Massachusetts. Even President Obama called to congratulate Senator-elect Brown.

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote of the beginning of the war for America's liberty:
By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April's breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.

In Massachusetts, embattled citizens may have fired the first shot in the reclamation of that liberty!

Election Day in MA

Today's finally the day for the special election in Massachusetts to replace Ted Kennedy as Senator. For Martha Coakley, this day probably couldn't come fast enough!

Vote if you're registered in MA, but keep an eye out for voter intimidation or any signs of voter fraud. Some liberals have said they were willing to cheat if it meant winning. Others share the sentiment but are smart enough not to say it!

Good luck, Scott!

Moderate Dems Besieged by Trolls

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Hillbuzz on unhinged liberals:

You know you are getting to these Kossacks and Moveon.org-anisms when they come after you.

That means you are on to something, and they are afraid, so they throw everything they have at you to scare you into shutting up and running away.

After two years of this abuse heaped on us, it barely registers anymore. Not even when they cross a line and start attacking us personally, in our personal lives, the way some of them did yesterday. What may have scared us a few years ago instead just makes us get on a phone to a lawyer to begin procedures against these would-be bullies.

It is absolutely no fun standing up to Alinksy Methods and radical tactics. It is hard, hard work. You will be maligned for standing your ground. You will be personally attacked by these nuts if you are successful and they see you as some sort of threat. Somewhere, perhaps even originated at the White House itself, hit lists are made for distribution to the current president’s armies of trolls, orcs, and goblins, telling them whom to harass each week.

Michelle Malkin gets this. Glenn Beck gets it. Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Erik Erikson, Dennis Miller, and anyone else challenging the Left gets it.

We are in the very strange position now, as moderate Democrats, to be on the receiving end of this garbage ourselves, joining other PUMA*s out there who’ve been targeted by the nutroots for refusing to be silenced as we watch Liberals on the far left destroy what used to be the Democrat Party.

Why Would Martha Coakley be Reluctant to Prosecute a Child Rapist?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

They tell me there are two types of people that do not fare well in prison: Cops and child rapists. So, I guess if you're a child raping cop, you have good reason not to want to go behind bars. Especially if your Dad has some pull with the D.A.!

Gary Hewson:
As we now know, and what seemed clear to Larry and his clients very early in the case, was that the child had been left in the care of Policeman Keith Winfield, the uncle of the child, the prior day. Officer Winfield, during his hour alone with his 23-month old niece, raped her with a hot curling iron.

Larry took the case and immediately took action to get Keith Winfield put away for his crimes. What he didn’t realize was that he was about to go against then Middlesex DA Martha Coakley, who for reasons I will allow readers to conclude from Frank Frisoli’s recounting of the facts and allegations in an email he provided to us today, would not bring charges against the Toddler Rapist and dragged the process out so long that her successor had to put Winfield away. Coakley allowed this toddler rapist to stay on the streets for over 2 years and she let him out of custody on No BAIL.

From the Boston Globe:
By 11 p.m., when the toddler’s mother once again changed her diaper, the redness had become alarming. “Her genital and anal area was bleeding, and her skin was peeling off,’’ according to prosecutors. The next morning, after her condition had worsened, the toddler’s mother took her to a Somerville pediatrician who referred her to Children’s Hospital and notified the Department of Social Services (now the Department of Families and Children), along with Melrose police. The toddler ultimately spent a month at Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston recovering from burns.

Which on the surface, seems bad enough. A twenty-three month old girl is cruelly sodomized with a hot curling iron and the prosecutor has to be dragged kicking and screaming to prosecute him and then the perpetrator is allowed to roam the streets for two years afterwards without bail. But, I just learned today, that the rapist's father was a big Coakley supporter! (I can say "rapist" rather than "alleged rapist" because he is now serving time for what he did) Winfield's father was a union representative who apparently steered endorsements to Coakley's AG campaign and was a large fundraiser for her.

Probably just a big coincidence, huh?
