Robert Reich, short of facts and other things, has opined on CNN (Certainly Not News) that the Berkeley riots may have been a right wing plot to discredit UC Berkeley. No. Seriously.

Reich asserted on CNN that he has “heard rumors.” According to the rumors Reich heard on campus, the anti-Trump riots were actually a right-wing plot to discredit Berkeley or the left...

Don Lemon: “You think this was a strategy by Yiannopoulos or right wingers? That they put this on in an effort to show there’s no free speech on a college campus like UC Berkeley?”

Reich responded: “I wouldn’t bet against it, Don. Again, I saw these people. They all looked very–almost paramilitary. They were not from the campus. I’ve heard, I don’t want to say factually, that there was some relationship there between these people and the right wing and the right wing movement that is affiliated with Breitbart News.”

Could Robert Reich beat a psych eval? I wouldn’t bet against it. The only note of optimism in this is that when you are built as close to the ground as Robert Reich, you don't have far to fall!

See. This is why I think that Moooove On appeals more to the typically math impaired liberal (but, I repeat myself). The "explosion" you just heard was more like a Greenie Stickem cap* that was left in your jeans, after your Mom washed them.

Thirty thousand people in sixty six cities works out to about 454 people per city. Imagine four hundred and fifty of your neighbors rallying for anything in your fair city. Unless the population of your town is five thousand or less, I'm thinking that's not much of an "explosion". If all 30,000 of them were in one city, like New York or L.A., it might be newsworthy, but still not that big a deal! And that's "signed up", that's not even "shown up" yet.

To quote my estimable friends in Mooove oN (in my best Ben Stein impression): "Wow". Color me unimpressed.

Update: FYI, 30,000 people in a population of 308.7 million is .00971%
Less than one tenth of one percent. Again: Wow.

Liberal Moonbat Meme of the Day: Conservatives Motivated by "Fear and Large Amygdalas"

An enlarged amygdalas has nothing to do with one's prostate (or other body part), rather it's the newest suspect in a long list of leftist attempts to connect the dots and offer an explanation on the motivations of anyone that prefers limited government to statism, freedom to socialism and human liberty to collectivist slavery.

The amygdalas region of the brain is responsible for "fear and primitivism" and a new study out of the UK shows that the cavemen/women on the right have a super-large amygdalas:

(Raw Story) A study at University College London in the UK has found that conservatives' brains have larger amygdalas than the brains of liberals. Amygdalas are responsible for fear and other "primitive" emotions. At the same time, conservatives' brains were also found to have a smaller anterior cingulate -- the part of the brain responsible for courage and optimism.

If the study is confirmed, it could give us the first medical explanation for why conservatives tend to be more receptive to threats of terrorism, for example, than liberals. And it may help to explain why conservatives like to plan based on the worst-case scenario, while liberals tend towards rosier outlooks.

"It is very significant because it does suggest there is something about political attitudes that are either encoded in our brain structure through our experience or that our brain structure in some way determines or results in our political attitudes," Geraint Rees, the neurologist who carried out the study, told the media.

Rees, who heads up UCL's Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, was originally asked half-jokingly to study the differences between liberal and conservative brains for an episode of BBC 4's Today show that was hosted by actor Colin Firth. But, after studying 90 UCL students and two British parliamentarians, the neurologist was shocked to discover a clear correlation between the size of certain brain parts and political views.

The point to this story should not be that conservatives do or do not have enlarged amygdalas's but rather than those on the left are so close-minded and stupid as to grant clemency to the notion that caveman-esque conservative behavior is explained by this underappreciated lobal region.

What underdeveloped section of the liberal brain grants clemency to the most horrid ideas ever known to mankind, ie. "socialism and communism has never worked because America never gave it a proper shot"?

Target Can't Catch a Break!

CHICAGO, Aug 3 (Reuters) - In a challenge to corporations' newfound right to make unlimited campaign donations, U.S.-based retailer Target (TGT.N) found itself in the cross-hairs of a boycott effort fueled by anger at a Minnesota candidate strongly opposed to gay rights.

MoveOn.org, the Democratic political advocacy group, widened a petition drive on Tuesday it had begun last week to its five million members from Target's home state of Minnesota to drum up opposition to Target's recent $150,000 donation to a pro-business group, called MN Forward.

"Most Americans think corporations shouldn't be meddling in democracy, and Target is the test case for that," MoveOn.org spokeswoman Ilyse Hogue said, adding there had been a strong response with 200,000 members signed up so far.

So the Left Wing has painted a target on Target's back for being too far Right Wing? Big, bad Target, the Rupert Murdock of retailers, right?

It may be that those on the Left are suffering from short memories. I don't remember if it ever came to a formal boycott, but I remember a number of pro-life folks a few (?) years back who wanted to boycott Target's parent company for making contributions to pro-abortion organizations, (like Planned Parenthood, if memory serves me correctly.)

Another story notes that: In Minnesota, Target is known for donating to public school programs, food pantries and the annual Twin Cities Gay Pride Festival.

So, they make contributions to pro-abortion groups, they get flak from the Right. They make contributions to right of center politicians, they catch flak from the Left.

They support Gay Rights festivals and get no credit from either side.

Some days you just can't catch a break!

On Governing Against the Will of the People

...what better authority than...Jerry Brown?



I heard one of Mister Brown's radio ads this AM.I didn't know it was his at first. It used the politically correct "person", as in which person is fiscally responsible or some such. I thought it must be a new ad for Meg Whitman. Imagine my surprise and my laugh out loud reaction to hear that they were touting Jerry Brown!

Excuse the narrative if you are familiar with Jerry "Governor Moonbeam" Brown, but back in the seventies, before his three abortive runs at the presidency (The thought of Brown as CinC is enough to give anybody the runs!), Jerry Brown was an expert at running against the will of the people.
Brown was governor when the now famous Prop 13 limiting property tax raises was enacted. Jerry fought tooth and nail against this until the day it was passed, and then, tried to co-opt it as if it had been his idea all along!

Over two thirds of the population of California were in favor of the death penalty and confirmed that with a propositional vote. Jerry appointed Rose Bird Chief Justice to the California Supreme Court- a justice who vehemently opposed the death penalty.

His chief of staff was Gray Davis, who would go on to become a governor famous for his "Play for Pay" style of governance, along with rotten energy deals that led to "brown outs" and eventually Gray-outs with a recall election that put Arnold Schwarzenegger into the governor's chair.

Brown has gone from Governor to State Atty. General, to Mayor of Oakland and now wants to be governor again. And I want to date a super model.

Governor "Moonbeam"? Sometimes you just can't always get what you want!

Hmmm. Seems to me that a very wise man once said that liberals want to change the "paradigm" whenever the facts aren't on their side!

How many of you got through high school without memorizing the preamble to the Constitution?

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Condescension is one thing. Being condescending when you are glaringly wrong is quite hilarious. Worse yet, this was a pre-recorded segment, so there was even time to edit it. I hope this video follows her for the rest of her short, but unimaginative career.

Update: On another forum, I was asked:

John Boehner was still quoting the Declaration of Independence and calling it the preamble to the Constitution. Where is your criticism of him?

Fair enough. Both misspoke. Mr. Boehner, was speaking live, and appeared to be looking at what might have been either notes or a prepared speech... hard to say. Ms. Maddow was taping a performance aided by a producer, director, cameraman and editor. If I had to give either the benefit of the doubt, it would be Mr. Boehner.

When not provoking the Capitol Police, on duty to protect her, into tussles over whether or not she has to show them “any stinking badges”, this former jewel of the Democratic Party is all about giving aid and comfort to the enemy…of Israel.

Yesterday the Palestinian News Network (no, not CNN, the other one!) reported that the so called “Free Gaza Movement” was sending supplies to the Gaza strip:

On board the SS Dignity are three to four tons of urgently needed medical supplies. Dr. Khalid at Gaza City’s Al Shifa Hospital told the crew on Saturday that the “majority of cases are critical shrapnel wounds from Israeli gunboats and helicopters, with an approximate 80 percent who will not survive.”
Among the Free Gaza organizers is Eliza Ernshire who said, “We have calls for surgeons willing to go into Gaza and work there throughout this crisis. The doctors inside are exhausted and unable to cope with the number of wounded.”
On board the ship expected to set sail on Monday are four physicians. Among them is Dr. Elena Theoharous, a surgeon and member of Cypriot parliament. Former United States Congresswoman and Green Party candidate Cynthia McKinney will also be making the voyage. And local hero, Al Jazeera correspondent formerly imprisoned in Guantanamo, Sami Al Hajj, is also expected.

Because medical supplies without your own moonbat are like a day without unicorns!

Today, it was reported that the best laid plans of moonbats and men are wont to go awry! This according to Al Jazeera:

A small boat, damaged as it tried to break the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip, has arrived in the Lebanese port of Tyre.
The Dignity started taking on water after it was hit by an Israeli naval vessel as it approached the Israeli coast with its cargo of medical aid.
The Free Gaza Movement, which organised the attempt to reach the territory , said their boat was "rammed" and shots were fired when at least four Israeli vessels confronted them in international waters.
Yigal Palmor, a spokesman for Israel’s foreign ministry, denied there had been any shooting but said that the ships had made "physical contact".

Despite the fact that there's a big difference between "making contact" and "shots were fired", I suspect I'd come down on the side of the Israelis on this one. Mainly, because I believe that if "shots were fired", the boat would not have returned from whence it came, but would have received an all expense paid trip to Davy Jones' Locker!

Soldier's Car Vandalized: Not A Hate Crime

...because no matter how deranged a moonbat you are, "soldier" isn't a protected class under hate crime legislation!

Ten thousand dollars worth of damage was done by one or more "Code Pink types" in Dallas to Army reservist Viktor Whitlow.

DALLAS -- Dallas police are looking into a shocking crime against an Iraq War vet that took place on a college campus. Overnight Tuesday, someone took vandalized 23-year-old Army veteran Viktor Whitlow's vehicle while it was parked at Dallas Baptist University. Ironically, the mascot at DBU is the Patriot.
The vandals used a box cutter to destroy the inside of his jeep, they slashed five tires and smashed through the windshield. Perhaps the most shocking detail to the vandalism was the message spray painted on his hood.

The message was "Soldiers are murderers". It's hard to describe just how vicious and mindless the attack was. Please, click over to the video and see for yourself. This is sickening! The scum who did this probably pride themselves on freedom to choose...unless you choose something less than politically correct!
