Obama Blames Intelligence Community for Underestimating ISIS

Obama often skips face to face presidential briefings in favor of reading summaries of the reports.

"Enter the derringer and its most popular iteration of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Remington Model 95. Introduced in 1866 and manufactured until 1935, it was chambered in .41 Short Rimfire. The Return of Ten Buck Friday

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Week Four of a Nine Week Mission, to Seek Out new life for the Senate, to Boldly Throw Out clueless Harry Reid!!

Focusing on the Senate races, is it worth ten bucks a week to you (2-4 twelve packs of Dr. Pepper?) to eliminate Reid's control and give the Senate responsible leadership again?

With that in mind, this week we look to the open Senate seat in NC. Can you contribute just $10 to Senate candidate Thom Tillis?

Real Clear Politics has Tillis up 1.0 points on the average, and rates the state as a toss up.

You can contribute to Thom Tillis here. Good luck and Godspeed, Thom!

(If you mark your contribution as "Ten Buck Friday", they'll see that the blogosphere can give them a little bump.)

Place Holder in History

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

One thing that ought not to surprise us, but still does, is Barack Obama's uncanny ability to tell whoppers with a straight face. Alongside "the police acted stupidly" and "If you like your doctor you can keep him", are his remarks over the resignation of attorney general Eric Holder. Via the Washington Post:
And through it all, he's shown a deep and abiding fidelity to one of our most cherished ideals as a people, and that is equal justice under the law.

George Zimmerman and Darren Wilson might have something contrary to say about that. Justice for Black Panthers, Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Henry Louis Gates...what do all these heroes of  the oxymoronically named Obama Justice Department have in common?

As younger men, Eric and I both studied law, and I chose him to serve as attorney general because he believes, as I do, that justice is not just an abstract theory, it's a living and breathing principle. It's about how our laws interact with our daily lives. It's about whether we can make an honest living...

An honest living? Apparently the answer to that was "no".
"...Eric's proudest achievement, though, might be reinvigorating and restoring the core mission to what he calls the conscience of the building, and that's the Civil Rights Division. He has been relentless against attacks on the Voting Rights Act because no citizen, including our service members, should have to jump through hoops to exercise their most fundamental right."

Jump through hoops? You mean like facing down jack booted thugs with billy clubs standing outside a voting booth? Holder's refusal to see these hoodlums justly punished, apparently only because of the color of their skin, ranks up there with the most egregious civil rights violations of the deeply segregated South.

Attacks on the voting rights of our servicemen? When Democrats hold strategy sessions on how to disallow the votes of our servicemen and women overseas, this is another "If you like your coverage you can keep it" statement.

Civil rights in regards to racial discrimination was ill served by the race pandering attorney general's office, which turned local law enforcement cases like Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown into racially divisive witch hunts, searching not for justice, but for a resolution that fit their racial bias narrative.

He's challenged discriminatory state immigration laws that not only risked harassment of citizens and legal immigrants, but actually made it harder for law enforcement to do its job.

He challenged the state of Arizona which tried to re-enforce federal legislation. Holder has successfully (and hypocritically) ignored all the the municipalities that ignore and even contradict federal immigration law with their "Sanctuary City" laws. Some animals are more equal than others.
"...no one in America should be afraid to walk down the street because of the color of their skin..."

Unless you're white and trying to exercise your right to vote and a New Black Panther stands in front of your polling place with a billy club.
So soon, Eric, Sharon and their kids will be a bit freer to pursue a little more happiness of their own, and thanks to Eric's efforts, so will more Americans, regardless of race or religion, gender or creed, sexual orientation or disability who will receive fair and equal treatment under the law.

I wonder if Obama believes that Brian Terry will be a bit freer to pursue happiness? How about Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi? (Chris Stevens, Sean Smith , Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods could not be reached for comment). Via executive privilege, Obama continues to obstruct Congressional investigations into Fast and Furious, and also  refuses to give an accounting of exactly what took place the night of Sept. 11, 2012. There was no accountability for the lack of security in the face of repeated requests from Chris Stevens, or the lack of a rescue mission, or even possible stand down orders, and there was no curiosity at all on the part of Obama's lap dog attorney general about any of them. And neither Obama or Holder has raised a finger to free Sgt. Tahmooressi, the only person on the planet not allowed to cross our southern border.

Don't get me wrong! I'm glad to see Holder go. It's only six years too late. I am on record as opposing his appointment six years ago, and sadly it's been far worse than I imagined.

The only question now is, given who Obama is, will his next choice be as bad or worse? I have said elsewhere that we should be so lucky as to have Obama appoint someone with enough integrity to investigate Holder after he's gone, but I'm not holding my breath.

Specialist Fourth Class John P. Baca

Citation:

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. Sp4c. Baca, Company D, distinguished himself while serving on a recoilless rifle team during a night ambush mission A platoon from his company was sent to investigate the detonation of an automatic ambush device forward of his unit's main position and soon came under intense enemy fire from concealed positions along the trail. Hearing the heavy firing from the platoon position and realizing that his recoilless rifle team could assist the members of the besieged patrol, Sp4c. Baca led his team through the hail of enemy fire to a firing position within the patrol's defensive perimeter. As they prepared to engage the enemy, a fragmentation grenade was thrown into the midst of the patrol. Fully aware of the danger to his comrades, Sp4c. Baca unhesitatingly, and with complete disregard for his own safety, covered the grenade with his steel helmet and fell on it as the grenade exploded, thereby absorbing the lethal fragments and concussion with his body. His gallant action and total disregard for his personal well-being directly saved 8 men from certain serious injury or death. The extraordinary courage and selflessness displayed by Sp4c. Baca, at the risk of his life, are in the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit on him, his unit, and the U.S. Army.

Sp4c. Baca: We humbly salute you and thank you for your service.

Meat: Our Friends the Animals

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I want to talk with you briefly about a first world problem: Having too many choices of what to eat. They don't have this problem in the third world. There, you eat whatever you can get your hands on, or starve. And don't get me started on North Korea!

This is exacerbated by another first world problem: I keep hearing this ad on my satellite radio about veganism. It starts out blandly enough :

Not all vegans are 'tree huggers'...okay.

Here's a guy who's a Christian and a conservative and he's a vegan...okay...sounds like a reasonable person.

And this guy is a vegan because he knows that animals...are not his enemies.

Wait! What?? He doesn't eat meat because he knows that animals are not his enemies?? What is he? A cannibal??? Do you know anyone who eats his enemies? I mean, I oppose mine, debate them, try to defeat them politically, in the case of terrorists, I may try to kill them, but eat them? Never entered my mind! What are these guys smoking along with their veggieburgers?

Now, I wouldn't necessarily classify these guys as world class whackadoos, because, after all, what constitutes "world class" these days? But, here's a sample of their 'thinking':

When Nazis rounded up Jews, babies were ripped out of their mothers' arms. In the dairy industry, calves are stolen from their mothers after birth. Other animal mothers, such as sows, rabbits and ewes, have their babies taken within days, weeks or months after birth. Separating families is a psychologically devastating tactic used to weaken one's pride and inhibit their desire to retaliate and fight back. Nazis swiped this technique from the meat, dairy and egg industries. Jews were tattooed to mark them. All animals in the meat and dairy industries are branded with hot irons, or ear-notched with a numerical tag. Jews were sent to the concentration camps in the same extermination trucks that still send animals to slaughterhouses. The Nazis constructed human slaughterhouses to massacre millions, while these torture-buildings have been strategically built all over the planet to massacre billions of animals. Jews have been, while animals still are, treated like nothing, as if their lives don't matter.
Because, when Nazis treat people like animals it's bad, but if you treat animals like animals... well...it's like... look! Over there! Shiny!!

But, their profound thinking about "species-ism" got me to thinking...if all life is sacred and equal, what gives them the right to commit genocide on our brother and sister species of bacteria and viruses? Who are they to make a distinction? I believe that in order to be consistent, that when they go in for surgery, they find a doctor who does not believe in hygiene. Think of the millions of bacteria mindlessly slaughtered when they scrub in? No antibiotics. No sterilized instruments. No boiling water... just sharing the planet with the tiniest of our brother and sisters! (Kumbayah!)

I'm not going to bother to give you the link to these guys, because if you're dedicated to wholesale bacterial genocide, I'm sure you can find them! I'll give you a hint: they call themselves "adaptt", with two "T"s, (because they spell as well as they reason).

For the sake of full disclosure, I want you to know that the neither the steer who provided my steak tonight or the pig whose bacon I enjoyed this morning or even the hen from whom my eggs were gathered were enemies of mine. Because, in addition to opposing my enemies, debating them, defeating them politically, and trying to kill them...sometimes I merely mock them.

Mmm, bacon!

GlaxoSmithKline Fined 3 Billion Renminbi by the Chinese

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

N.Y.T.: In a record penalty, a court in southern China on Friday imposed a fine of nearly $500 million on GlaxoSmithKline, the scandal-hit British pharmaceutical giant, and sentenced its former head of China operations to at least 2 years in prison, a state news agency reported. The penalty was for bribery in a case that has exposed widespread corruption in China’s medical sector.
The fine of 3 billion renminbi, or $487 million, was imposed on the company by a court in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province

Perhaps the most interesting thing to me in that story was that I had never heard the word "renminbi" before.

So, as a public service, according to wiki:
The renminbi is the official currency of the People’s Republic of China. The name... literally means "people's currency".

The yuan (元/圆) is the basic unit of the renminbi, but is also used to refer to the Chinese currency generally, especially in international contexts. The distinction between the terms "renminbi" and "yuan" is similar to that between sterling and pound, which respectively refer to the British currency and its primary unit. One yuan is subdivided into 10 jiǎo (角), and a jiǎo in turn is subdivided into 10 fēn(分).

I bring this to your attention in the unlikely event of the US electing a Democrat to the White House in 2016, where four to eight more years of Democrat control of the economy and foreign policy, will probably force you to calculate your minimum wage requirements in yuan, as our new and benevolent overlords fill our pockets with renminbi.

Focusing on the Senate races (Republicans need just six seats to oust the Dimbulb from Searchlight, Harry Reid as majority leader, ten to show Obama what the country really thinks of him!), is it worth ten bucks a week (1 1/2 lbs. of bacon?) to eliminate Reid's control and give the Senate responsible leadership again?

With that in mind, this week we look to the open Senate seat in AR. Can you contribute just $10 to Senate candidate Tom Cotton?

Real Clear Politics has Cotton up 1.7 points on the average, and rates the state as a toss up.

You can contribute to Tom Cotton here. Good luck and Godspeed, Tom!

(If you mark your contribution as "Ten Buck Friday", they'll see if the blogosphere can give them a little bump.)

Note: I've gotten one report back of difficulty donating through that link. I tried it myself just now, and it worked perfectly. Let me know if you have any trouble donating and we'll contact the campaign if necessary. -Proof

Private First Class Ernest E. West

Citation:

Pfc. West distinguished himself by conspicuous gallantry above and beyond the call of duty in action against the enemy. He voluntarily accompanied a contingent to locate and destroy a reported enemy outpost. Nearing the objective, the patrol was ambushed and suffered numerous casualties. Observing his wounded leader Iying in an exposed position, Pfc. West ordered the troops to withdraw, then braved intense fire to reach and assist him. While attempting evacuation, he was attacked by 3 hostile soldiers employing grenades and small-arms fire. Quickly shifting his body to shelter the officer, he killed the assailants with his rifle, then carried the helpless man to safety. He was critically wounded and lost an eye in this action. but courageously returned through withering fire and bursting shells to assist the wounded. While evacuating 2 comrades, he closed with and killed 3 more of the foe. Pfc. West's indomitable spirit, consummate valor, and intrepid actions inspired all who observed him, reflect the highest credit on himself, and uphold the honored traditions of the military service.
